That's fair and you're right that they do spoil things a certain amount in live letters and keynotes. They spoil it enough to make you excited, but without revealing everything. It does reduce the surprise and excitement of the story itself though, sadly.

For example, the Shadowbringers keynotes told us "you will be told the story of the Warrior of Darkness" and you will "go from area to area, restoring darkness to each area". Simply doing 2+2 made you realize this would be via fighting dungeon/trial bosses, because that's how the game works. And then the launch trailer spoiled who certain primals were.

The Endwalker material spoiled that it was the end of the arc with a poster of you-know-who and it was obvious who we'd be fighting in the trials. It was heavily hinted we'd be going to a place involving the ancients due to some concept art, although I did not know it would be "going back in time". It was heavily hinted we'd be going beyond the moon when they dropped the 1.0 trailer right before release and made me fairly confident we'd be going to the Dragon Star, which technically we sorta did.

So I get what you mean here.

(I do want to say, that in all cases, they did not really spoil Hades or Meteion, they tend to keep who the last trial boss is sort of unclear, it could have been Vauthry and Zenos/Fandaniel/Hydaelyn/Zodiark/etc.

The story is also very nuanced, so you can have the key elements spoiled but still enjoy learning the nuances. It's like how when you go to watch a Superman movie, you know the main character is Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, you know they will win, but you don't know how and what exact hurdles they'll go through, and that's ultimately what you're going there to find out.)

Probably should have just lodestoned everything abou5t specs regardless so people who don't interact in the social media/youtube side of this game could be on the same page as those who want to watch and know everything. I feel that at least would warrant getting the word out on the official platforms for.
They should have put it on the lodestone earlier. I did do a scroll back to see if they did and also used archive.org and they didn't have them up earlier. The keynotes were also not transcribed and put in the live letter forum like live letters are, so you couldn't actually read an official summary like with live letters. The specs also aren't actually shown in the trailers.

I think it was said during the keynote announcements for Dawntrail at the fan fests. I did find a slide for it from the London one, so I would imagine thats where Icy got their info from. If you watch the stream from the LA one, it is at the 2 hour 7 minute mark. I doubt that the Lodestone would have had the information there at that time, but I think Yoshi talking about it onstage would be an "official" announcement (and that was last July)

Nor did SE say it would, they are saying for good 1080p performance a 2060 is what they recommend for DT. Expecting an 8 year old GPU like a GTX 1080 to be able to perform at 4k 60 FPS max settings on a game with a major graphical update might start to get into the unreasonable. That being said, I think if you are already using a 3070 I would get your CPUs upgraded to more modern architecture (assuming you are using old hardware) and see if DT performs like you want it to after you tweek some settings like the amount of characters rendered. Honestly I'd save the cash for a more meaningful upgrade next GPU generation and just adjust the game's settings until then.

Not sure why you feel obliged to respond to my post by stating things I already understand.

As is commonly true, "get your CPUs upgraded" means rebuilding the system: new motherboard to support the new CPU, new OS install, re-installing all the apps I use and re-configuring them, and so on.

So I might as well build a whole new system, which has the added advantage of leaving the old system in stable operating condition during the process of getting the new system up and stable.

Time is money, after all, and as I've been fortunate enough in life to not need to "save the cash" anymore, I'd rather go the simpler, quicker, route of building a new system that probably won't need any upgrading for a while.

Yup. My old rig was so dated I ended up just rebuilding from the ground up. Saved an SSD and the power supply I'd just swapped in last year because the original kicked the bucket, everything else (including the case) was brand new. (Would've saved the HDD, but I cracked the connector putting it in the new one.)

So, for the launch, the maintenance to install patch 7.0 would happen around the 27th and then it will be clear to play from then onwards? Or do we need to expect downtime on the Tuesday ahead of the official launch time?
