Have you ever seen a casino slot tournament? Typically it involves rows of people sitting in front of a machine mashing a button as fast as they can for several minutes. I realized biffing ice in Shatter reminds me of that. I really like objective-based PvP, but there's just something about the ice objectives that turns me off.




I haven't seen a tournament, just casinos, so I would find the analogy to bit extreme- you're looking at comparing someone spending literally hours at a time in front a slot machine and a 15- 20 minute PVP/PVE encounter.Have you ever seen a casino slot tournament? However, it gets a pretty good image across of how time is spent on the crystals, and I don't know how to improve it- maybe just spawn one big one in the center, to force more PVP? The only games where that woked were once with static factions, not some random alliances thrown together, let alone a 3 alliance mode. Might be fun, who knows.

OP, did you verify your information before making your initial thread? They actually increased the incentive and reward for killing in shatter 2.0




I realize you addressed your comment to the OP, however the map design doesn't really incentivize many players to do so.
I thought Shatter kills went from 10-->5 initially then 5-->8 when we all howled about it?




Something like that, it was pretty silly, it really removed the PvP incentive. Then they increased it and changed how the small ice spawned, which in theory should increase PvP encounters, but with so many PvE centric players and random parties I think Shatter is just poorly designed.
if it was in a PvP game, it would have a better chance, alliance would probably develop strategies to roam the map for PvP, but it's not so easy here.
The rounds of a slot tournament take a few minutes. I'm trying to reel (oof) in my hyperbolic statements.
