I'm kinda curious to see numbers after the beta is over, I don't think many people are going to be wanting to be exclusive to the xbox version though if they have to pay double for it compared to everyone else.
I'd love to see those numbers, too.
It's likely a calculated move on their part, using metrics not easily available to us.
I can see a lot of established Xbox users already having a subscription to Gamepass anyways, because it's actually not a bad deal, so they might not even be looking at it as two subscriptions for XIV.
Anyone who was looking to get an Xbox for XIV specifically (to replace an aging PC or to get an extra family member into the game while adding a new console to the household)? Probably a complete non-starter now and that might be fine with Microsoft, recently they seem to be more in the business of renting out a service and not selling consoles.
Still, that info about needing a gamepass subscription on Xbox came completely out of left field and it being buried in the fine print of the beta announcement was less-than-optimal communication. Not that I want to derail this thread away from the Steam topic, it was just another recent piece of information where SE could've stepped up their communication game.
