There's definitely a sweet spot here since some hit boxes have historically been so small it's hard to tell if you're even hitting your positionals, but hit boxes that make up basically the entire arena (like Agdistis) are too extreme in the other direction.Small hitboxes are more fun and wall bosses are boring.
But you need to buff melee even more than they already are to compensate, look at the latest crit dungeon to see how even a little downtime kills the huge melee number advantage that exists in savage raids, but I don't know if the devs are even competent anymore to adjust for things like this without hurting other raid modes.

Yes we want the same thing, if melee do more damage they need to work for itBut it's not arbitrary, there is a reason for it, the devs are just lagging behind and forgot the current savage raid bosses are full uptime, but melee must always do more base damage, the problem is the encounters.
I was using Aloalo as an example of a current modern duty that makes melee work for it and then some more, it really shows how quickly that melee advantage goes down the drain the second you are forced to stop dps with no uptime strats being possible or feasible for the average player.
There is no sense going down the MELEE MAN BAD sentiment some people seem to be so full of lately if it's gonna lead us with the pendulum swinging the other way next expansion if we overcorrect, if we give all roles absolute parity and end up with more encounters like Aloalo then melee would become obsolete in an instant, and you would just watch all the FOTM rerollers swamp to your range jobs the millisecond this starts happening.
I do want parity and I do want to work for uptime, but only after you're taken small hitbox bosses downtime into account for melee. I don't want this to become BLM/MCH/SMN: the game.
Nobody is asking for melee to work for more uptime and even if they get 100% uptime they still do the damage of a MCH

Thank you for your input on the 'work required' to play Melee DPS. I am certain that your experiences with one-button Broil gameplay in non-Savage content have given you deep insights into this matter. I'm surprised that the progressive simplifications to healer and caster gameplay are not a higher priority on your list of things to address, however. You can leave this one to us.

Oh so now we are going based on “main job” listed on your profileThank you for your input on the 'work required' to play Melee DPS. Sure I’ll be sure to ignore your takes on any job that doesn’t relate to ninja then considering you certainly discuss more than melee
I know how to play melee as well as healers, I just don’t personally like them

this more than anything pisses me off the most about giant hitboxes, way easier for them to clip casts/GCDs because their fat ass happened to nudge you while zipping around the arena. it's especially noticeable in the EW ally raids, or dungeons like Lapis Manalis and Lunar Subterrane where there's bosses that love jumping all over the damn place. it feels like I'm fighting with the game and not the actual boss.

I mean if you decided this based off FFlogs I honestly couldn’t care less, I’m on break from savage anyway (though this isn’t my main raiding character), people are allowed to have opinions on topics that aren’t their current “focus” as you put it, sure I talk more about healers than anything else, that doesn’t functionally mean anything
Are we going to purity test “intention” of comments on the OF’s, this is just next level

Gearing is a much more obvious indication. Lucky Bancho uses mounts, so that's another easy alternative, especially across multiple tiers. But that's a different tangent altogether.
Given that this is ultimately a discussion about melee optimization, you do need more than a theoretical understanding of the subject. If you would like to complain about subrole balance in anticipation for the next expansion, there are multiple places where that conversation is happening already.

So basically you looked at this character, know absolutely nothing else about me as a collective and just assumed based on that that I have no idea what I’m talking about and you obviously know moreGearing is a much more obvious indication. Yeah definitely a very mature way to handle discussion that’s definitely going to get you very far
Like I said purity testing comments on the OF’s is embarrassing
