HW had the best grind for a Relic. Except for one step, which they did later on improve... Specifically the third step, with the unidentifiable stuff and the various crafted items...

But for the rest, it had a variety of grind options.
Most notably the Crystal Sand. Which while you can effectively turn tomestones in through extra steps, you had other options.


And after some more simple steps, you more or less finished it off with the Light grind, which was to just do max level content at the time.

Think personally making people go through the entire hildebrand questline just to obtain them is a chore in itself. I definitely like some of them but I wish they would go back to the Bozja aspect of obtaining such weapons since it brought more people together working towards a common goal instead of the sign up for whatever roulette for your tome grind.

Naw I think the geo christmas light decorations from the final Bozjan relics are still the most meh. At least these ones have more of that finality oomph

In the long run, aside of the quests, "buy everything with poetics" will make it no grind at all – just a convenient sink for all the poetics I've got no better use for than to cash in for gardening soil.

I see nothing wrong with making old relic easy to do. They Did nerf arr relic steps. Like the book's cost is reduced. The light farm is doubled At The Last step. And.. They need to nerf timeworn artifact,lol

I kinda agree with this, making old relics easier to get is more preferrable because what happens when people decide to just stop doing the content? That's kinda why I prefer it being tied to roulettes because people are always doing them meanwhile there are times where Eureka and Bozja are completely dead, which is a big issue or if a server just doesn't have a large playerbase which is currently a problem for people playing in dynamis. Sure it's never really a problem in say Primal or Aether but there is genuinely an issue with other data centers that don't have such a large population or a diverse timezone for instance EU and JP.

Honestly, the last step of the Bozja relics was a complete wiff for me. The only reason I finished off my Bozja relic is because they for some godawful reason decided that you had to fully complete the relic weapon to access the glam version of the 2nd-to-last step. The Augmented Law's Order weapons are the ones I'm after for most jobs, but you have to complete a whole upgrade step beyond the Augment's Law's Order, including one of the most atrocious grinds I've ever done (180 raid clears or 90 skirmishes + 45 CEs for the one-time grind between Augmented Law's Order and Blade's) in order to get the version that can be put in the glam dresser.

HW has been my favorite and I especially enjoyed the variety possible in the crystal sand step. You could levequest for it. You could turn in materia. You could craft. Wasn't there also something from PvP? I may be misremembering that. But it was really nice because it was a set list but it was a list with a wider range of options. And HW and also ARR have been well future-proofed. ShB is not horrible with future proofing but SB it's almost non-existent because of Eureka's design.

I got all 19 and they all pretty much suck like the one's we're getting now. All the same color, boring as hell. There seems to be a serious lack of talent at SE. I'm getting one a done. See you next expansion.

Only takes a few hours if you skip cutscene.

I am kinda meh on most of the final stage relics much like I was meh on a lot of the final stage bozja relics. I am kind of disappointed that they all have the exact same glow which makes them even more meh to me. I haven't been a fan of all the steps requiring 1500 tomes as I think it is lazy and was a side effect of SE just not having resources to properly flesh out the relic grind out since they are busy with the "graphics update".
