The only take I disagree here is that you somehow believe that Dawntrail is lessening content when in fact theyre adding back missed features such as exploratory zones and restoration. This is on top of the new features we got in EW.

i wish i could like this reply 100 times to show how good it is, thankou so much for ur advise. i will defo look for more social aspects with ffxiv. im happy i found somebody with a legitimatley good answer to my original question of "how do ppl keep playing"
to preface, nothing in my op is about dt, i want to be excited and surprised by it, hence why i still defend it

I think the frustration partly based on SE making the gameplay easier for new players but sadly this makes the game too easy for some... sure you could do savage or ultimate but the issue is that those things just react on "response-time & muscle memory" where a dps rotation is more like learning how to solve a puzzle based on each situation separately... dps rotations tickle the brain a bit more when it comes down to challenges for people who have an analystic memory rather then a photographic one.
Am I fan of how the Store is used? No, I would much rather such items be added as rewards in-game, and I particularly dislike how past event items are put up on there instead of being earned when the events roll around again. However I would not call it predatory, especially when compared to other online stores of its type. And whilst it can use FOMO its for non-essentials like emotes and cosmetics. They are not game breaking or P2W, no matter how cool they are.
Whilst I have great respect for Yoshi, he and SE are like any other game company, they want money first and foremost, and things like the Store is simply one way they can mine people for it. At the very least I feel Yoshi has passion for the game and its creative vision, unlike the recent SE’s CEOs who seem to still think the Blockchain/NFTs are the way forward…
As for content, I would like more like every one of us and wish the patch cycles went back to how they where or sooner, but I have been enjoying these patches and content still, such as the variant dungeons, Island Sanctuary and the 6.x story. Perhaps I am just getting older, but I feel people get stung more by burnout more now then they ever did in past MMO games. Not just with FFXIV, but I see it in almost every ongoing game I play too. There is this strange notion that we must always be playing these one games, and taking any sort of break is a failure. Perhaps we just consume things quicker now… anyway, a new field zone would have nice, but I can kinda see why they skipped it? Like Yoshi said in the presentation, people once complained about having to do things like Eureka ect. I would have preferred a different way for Endwalker to deal with Relics (Such as getting us to farm older/targeted content at least) but its nice that they seem to have listened and will be bringing it back for DT. Also I am very much looking forward to the Cosmic Exploration.
In the end, you can/should have criticisms of how a game is going, but can also still enjoy it. Its not always black (mage) or white (mage) issue.
Well capitalism is just communism lite, and whatever you're calling capitalism died well before the 70s. More like after WW2, or even when federal reserve was created, or when America became a copyrighted registered corporation and the country ended from bankruptcy in late 1800s

Very simple - by not agreeing about any of your complaints.you are free to tell me to unsub, leave give you my gil all the ususal toxic rubbish, but i wonder; how, you- the people who DO feel this way continue to justify youre support of FFXIV
and im not asking that in a mean way.. im asking it legitimatley. how DO you do it
I don't think the game has been getting worse, or the quality of content lowered. There are many months left before next expansion - no reason to expect lots of information this early.
As for the cash shop, I don't use it, I don't think about it, it is completely irrelevant for my gameplay or my opinion about the game.
It's not really burnout though, it's boredom. Burnout would be when you played so much XIV every day that you, well, get burned out.
Finishing all the content that's supposed to last for 4.5 months in a week, or let's be very generous and say 2 weeks, with just casual playtime and then asking yourself what you're paying a monthly sub for is not burnout.

I play the game, find ways to have fun, don't buy something if I don't want it. If I get annoyed or burned out.. I go do something else..
You guys think about this way too much. It's a little weird. Don't want it don't buy it.. if someone else does why do you care?
They literally never show the Job action trailer until immediately before the expansion, because they are still working on job balance right up to the release. They always do 3 trailers when there are fanfests, it's the entire point of attending fanfest. None of this is new.
They always release new meister quality figures with complementary emotes, no one is buying these just for an in game pose.
Behave yourself.

no they dont, the shb job action trailer was shown at fanfest and that was 6 months pre expansion. so dont talk rubbishThey literally never show the Job action trailer until immediately before the expansion, because they are still working on job balance right up to the release. they 100% do, theres literally a forum post up from sm1 who bought it JUST for thatThey always release new meister quality figures with complementary emotes, no one is buying these just for an in game pose.
