It's a shame that this is what it takes for people to realize SE is somewhat greedy and is somewhat aware that a lot of FF14 players would buy just about anything for the game.
Obviously people should have realized a long time ago, but the fact that this is what it takes, and that this is still isn't enough for a lot of people to realize it.
I mean you think you're at the bedrock with that kind of statement, but you still have the hidden, secret, bonus stage of "I'm going to aggressively buy this just to spite you Square Enix "haters"." Usually you see this with just subscriptions and nothing more, but I've seen a handful of $1000+ gacha purchase receipts that get posted just because of say, someone saying that stuff is predatory and exploitative to certain types of people. "Yeah! I'm getting exploited, and I LOVE IT, what are you, poor?"The bleakest blackpill is yet to come, OP. It's when even after you stop buying their mogstation items, but you realize there's like... a mile long line of people who don't care and will buy no matter what. Hell, they'll even buy several of the same item for every alt. I'm glad you've decided to become a conscientious consumer, but the mmo genre... hell, gaming as a whole, is just screwed. Smart purchasing on an individual level won't change Square's business practices, but at least you won't be spending your money on crap so that's a plus.
Shout out to the figurines they design for these things. 300-400 dollars but when they arrive 6 months later they look like some crap your grandma would accidentally get you from the bootleg figurine store. It's the same as all the other collectible stuff, like the turntable that was way more expensive than just buying a turntable on amazon, and now the PC with the zodiark/hydaelyn logo on the case, but for the projected price you could just buy a prebuilt with better specs on amazon. Most people realize these are bad deals. But all it takes are a few suckers, and those suckers are why we keep having to see this crap. Glad you're no longer one of them, OP.
really boggles the mind
The individual action will always fall to the enormity of the collective, logic and precedent be damned.
I only have 1 character, no alts, and the 1 character limit thing for some items, while it doesn't affect me and never will, I still think is quite absurd. If you can't have what is essentially a $400 bonus emote account wide, what is even worth giving that "limited amount of account wide items" status to? At a certain point, it just seems...arbitrary?
100% agree. I thought about buying it but looking at the pictures... Wow. There's a reason they didn't take good pictures of it.I'm generally not one to complain about Optional Items, but whatever is going on with their "Meister Quality" series of figurines since Omega fiasco is just... atrocious. Even from a figurine collector perspective (or, rather, "especially so" instead of "even").
- Hydaelyn, no offense, looks like a $25 bootleg from Aliexpress from year 2005. The only reason Zodiark isn't as horrible is most likely because he doesn't have a human face and body, so the flaws are less noticeable.
- The price is almost double compared to previous figurines.
- It's made out of pretty cheap materials that have issues with paint starting to flake off at some point.
- Emote is single-character instead of account-wide it used to be.
For comparison I have a $300 figurine pre-ordered that will be handmade, manually painted, has replaceable parts, made out of better materials and the level of detail on it is insane.
There's literally no excuse for SE to charge $360 (without taxes too, I take it?) for a frankly underwelming quality, and they still dare to call it "Meister". Meister how? Their own "Bring Arts" action figurines look better for a fraction of the price! They should seriously replace their sculptors for this line, it's just ridiculous at this point.
Figurines are obviously not an item produced for people who're struggling with their budget and it's a case of "it's a privelege, not a necessity", but even for those there're certain lines one shouldn't cross. If they want to call their series "Meister" (which implies "Premium", you know) and charge as much as some sculptors charge for an actual outstanding premium quality - they should provide the quality. They most certainly can afford that. So yeah, it's 100% a matter that is worth being called out even outside of OP's specific circumstances (glad that they approved your refund btw).
Would love to see who is that person that saw the prototype of the figure and said "yes, that will be enough." Do these people even play their own game? Trying to become blizzard ,huh.
They prey on people like OP and it works.
I struggle to justify spending half that much on a Perfect-grade Gundam kit, something that I not only get to enjoy building, but can also handle, pose, and generally enjoy beyond leaving it on a shelf to collect dust. A statue of not-especially-great quality of two characters I don't particularly care for with an emote that annoys me just watching the sample clip ain't happening.
Other people can spend their disposable income how they like, this just isn't for me.
where is this statue emote everyone is getting their knickers in a twist over? i see nothing on the mogstation and the only thing i can find via google is a joke post on reddit dated 2 years ago
the new ceo of square is pushing nfts harder this year, yoshi has alot of clout in the company but the ceo still outranks him i wonder how long till nfts creep into the game
I agree. I was kind of let down by the emote itself, especially since it doesn't seem like it loops like the omega emotes. Tbh despite what other people are saying in this thread, I think what a lot of people don't understand is I HAVE to spend this money. Having a large amount of money (which normally I don't have) is bad on disability. If I don't get rid of this money soon, my funds WILL be cut off, and it could take up to 6 months to get them back, which is beyond my temporary blessing of not having to worry about my finances for the next two months. I was really hoping this statue would be the solution, as I could be knocking out multiple birds with one stone, but seeing them try to minimize what their customer gains, I canceled it immediately. If I could save this money I would, but that's not an option on disability. I have to be rid of it by the end of the month.I struggle to justify spending half that much on a Perfect-grade Gundam kit, something that I not only get to enjoy building, but can also handle, pose, and generally enjoy beyond leaving it on a shelf to collect dust. Despite my family wanting me to spend this on myself, I might have to just ignore that and buy my friends a bunch of games on steam or something.
