I don't really get parasocial relationships. Watching someone because you find them entertaining I get, but following them from game to game, and keeping track of what they're doing and 'chatting' with them seems very unhealthy.

I can't blame the streamers, they're just doing what makes them money. Ah, actually, yes I can blame streamers, a lot of them encourage extremely unhealthy behaviour in their audience.

True, citizen. It was more than double if I recall correctly.

Your words have merit, citizen. The Weeaboo Police Department will stand by and await his return.

I'll let you know with 100% confidence there is at least one person who controls the Roe Wall.

Eh, varies quite a lot between streamers. Like preach and cox seems quite chill. And in a lot of cases streamers are just a new generation of radio-hosts with the added bonus of videos.

Asmongold played FFXIV because it was trending. His chat had suggested he check it out before that, but he wasn't interested. Not until the YT algorithm said he should be.
As soon as XIV stopped trending, suddenly other games - all of which just happened to be trending at the time - became his priority.
All the while, he was saying he'd go back to FFXIV... just to keep those fans waiting for him to on the line.

Now that he no longer has to pretend to like FFXIV, he's back to bashing its graphics, combat, etc.

And it wasn't only Asmon. It was rather eye-opening to me to see how many larger creators are just as much slaves to the algorithm. Any time a new release comes out, I see the same big names streaming them, pretending to enjoy them... until the algorithm says it's time to move on... then they're pretending to enjoy the next big thing.

    It's pretty gross.
I respect the hustle tbh. Not to mention I'm just glad he's playing FFXIV again. I'm basic like that.

Yeah, he had something like 260,000 viewers on his first day. Pure mayhem in Limsa. He couldn't zone out of the starting area because the next area was too congested with FF fans waiting for him.

Well hey, he's been saying for the past 5 years he was going to play MHW and he eventually started. I honestly think he'll play it again one day, just not any time soon

Wow thanks. How very informative, lmao.

Also, this. The only difference really is GMs take a hard stance against vulgarity in-game, but FF players just find ways to be toxic without using obscene words, such as backhanded compliments and lots of passive-aggression.

The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.

Never underestimate what someone with too much money and too much time on their hands will do. I can remember a player in WoW that was multiboxing 40+ accounts as Elemental Shaman, terrorizing multiple PvP servers once cross realm was added. The complaints that player generated in the WoW forums were many and sadly pretty darn funny at times.

I don't understand why Square doesn't crack down on this whole Weeaboo police thing. They purposely ruin peoples time in limsa for no reason, and it isn't even funny.

How can 25 of the same character model with the same name be afk day after day taking up all the space, and for what? To annoy others. Ridiculous.

I don't enjoy Asmongold streams. Never have even back in the early days of WoW. His stream personality just grates on me. That said I can distinguish between his stream personality and the real person behind it. We have seen glimpses of the real man particularly when he was dealing with his mom's illness, injury and eventual death. It was enough to show the streamer and the man are very different. That said I still won't watch his streams.

My only problem with him being in FFXIV the first time was that it coincided with xpac release and totally did in the entire datacenter as far as getting logged in went. I ended up moving my characters off that DC and onto a much less populated one. So unless he decides to play on Dynamis I say welcome back Asmongold and I hope you have fun.

I remember that as well. It was insane. At one point I tried to add up the money that guy spent (assuming he wasn't making money botting) and it was positively outrageous just in internet connection and hardware alone.

My advice let the man play the game in peace. Do not follow him or chase him or act like a creepy cult member. It's bad enough he's got a bunch of kids doing it, grown adults should not follow this behavior.
