So, to everyone who despises/got bored/wants something new regarding the Scions: do you totally replace your own friends every ten years? Just wondering.

Story-wise, it amounts to the same thing. If you would not abandon friends you've had for ten years, why would they suddenly get abandoned in a story where they've been your in-game friends for ten years?
Comparing fictional characters who are locked into playing whatever roles the writers feel are most fitting for them vs. actual people who are dynamic and ever-changing is a touch silly.
Granted, well-written characters will undergo changes such as new motivations to keep them interesting as time goes on, but Scions have remained static for so long at this point that I'm feeling doubtful anything earth-shattering is going to happen in Dawntrail, and I can almost guarantee this "conflict" is going to be resolved so quickly it's scarcely going to matter in the long run.

I don't mind the Scions, I just wish they would retire them for at least one expansion. Why are we with them nonstop especially on something that is supposed to be considered a vacation from them. I don't understand.
For me, it's hard to find a character likeable if they are always there present, especially when they are unchanging and are ne'er risk of dying (quite literally), they become more a nuisance in that regard...Basically a preordained object, just there for the sake of being there, constant in what we expect from them and never contributing anything besides making more problems (They are a problem starter). Because of this they showcase no character development like, "Hey I learned this, time to apply it to my personal life and go off on my own." [Which could open up more optional side story with that character and getting to know their inner most workings] No, at this point they are just a parasite attached at the hip lel, the least offender of this I would have to say is Krile just because she just hasn't been apparent throughout the storytelling as often. (Maybe also Graha, but he has his own faults, although I still find him quite likeable. This might change come Dawntrail because they are trying to make these characters marketable it seems rather than making them characters with thoughts, feelings, and attributions [The fanservice Graha displayed in the trailer was enough to come to that conclusion.]..."How much of the character can we fit in here, rather than how should the character react")

Beloved characters in any fictional setting may be ever unchanging, at least until the next story is written. You achieve that "dynamic and ever-changing" by adding more friends, not by dumping the old ones entirely. Both in real life and in new stories.

It's not hate. I don't hate the Scions.
I think we just want a break, maybe just 1 expansion away from them. It's fine to want a break, right?
It's like after spending weeks with your family during the holidays, sometimes you just need an alone time, a "me" time. A chance for us to get to know other people.
That's all.

No, but we have multiple groups of friends, don't we?
We have friends group A -- whom we go on road trips with.
We have friends group B -- whom we go to movies with.
Like we just need a quick break from the Scions, and have a chance to meet other people.

That's why they should still be in the story but play lesser roles, It's ok for some scions to go off and do other things for the majority of the expansion, they've done this in HW, SB, Why not go on a adventure with a few scions? then the rest are doing something else important, so we can actually have new people to meet and be main stays, while maybe a scion here or there can pop up and help for a short while. It's ok for the scions to have a break and not always be looped up in the story.
Yeah in real life you don't just get bored of your friends and replace them, but theirs nothing wrong with not hanging out or seeing a friend constantly, in fact its healthy to take breaks from people from time to time, it's healthy to make new friends.
I'd also care about the scions as "friends" if they actually had high stakes and tension when going on dangerous adventures, but we all know nothings going to happen because of plot armor, so it becomes uninteresting to a degree in that reguard.
This isn't even the only example. There are plenty of stories out there where the main character moves on from one group of companions to another.
Think you and a lot of the FFXIV playerbase needs to touch grass.
