I'm sick of the scions. Bring on some fresh characters to accompany our journey.

The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.

I don't mind the scions randomly making minor appearances, but not as the main accompanying NPCs to our journey. It'd be like Pokemon Ash getting 2 different buddies every generation, and occasionally having some episodes where they meetup his old buds.

I don't mind them coming along as this is their life now, there professional adventurers and they have grown fond of being with each other over the years. While they may have had other aspirations earlier in life, they have gotten used to their life and who they are spending it with. Will they eventually retire or move on? Quite possibly, once access to the First is restored, Y'shtola and Thancred will certainly go as they have new family there.

As to who else moves on, who knows, but the most important thing is to never paint yourself into a corner story wise by killing off characters, it's better to retire, temporary detain them, long vacation, other assignment, etc. I don't see them retiring the original Scions until they have 100% confirmed reliable replacements for them. As I speculated above, family will probably draw a few away but they can also become mentors or teachers for the next generation of Scions. One last thing to consider, while the story has taken 10 years in our world to play out, it has, at most, taken 2 to 3 years for them.

As far them being heroes with good intentions that is well and fine, we just don't see them desire anything but the good of Eorzea. .
I don't think it's true that they don't have desires or ambitions of their own. Do those personal desires take a back seat to what has been the primary objective? Yes, they do. Take a character often maligned for having no story like Y'shtola -- past Endwalker she has a completely personal reason for getting involved in the main story, one that was developed during Shadowbringers. We may be headed in the direction that you suggest, even if we havn't got there yet. Although that doesn't have to "retire" her character. Also, many of the Scions have had love interests, not just Y'shtola.

Is it the main focus of the story? No it isn't and maybe it should be, but then I'm sure people would complain that the Scions are hogging too much of the spotlight and would make it more difficult to tell the main story. It would be interesting for them to use side quests to examine the scions story more, as optional content, but I think they shy away from doing that due to continuity issues.

There are a lot of example and I think if you examine the story further you will see all of the Scions have motivations beyond just "saving the world" or being hangers on to the Warrior of Light. They also have different methods of achieving their goals, which has brought them into conflict. I'm sorry to cast aspersions, but to me it seems that you are just ignoring a lot of the story in order to have this argument that we need to get rid of the current scions and replace them. To me I think it makes more sense to introduce new characters slowly and expand the cast of characters, not arbitrarily reduce them by getting rid of well-established characters. That reduces the complexity of the characters involved in the story, not increases it.

I have mixed feelings about this because my enjoyment of the Scions can vary depending on the specific characters involved. Like, I reaaally don't care about Y'shtola or G'raha, but I always love hanging out with Urianger or the twins. That said, it's true that I probably wouldn't miss them too much if they took a backseat for Dawntrail. It does look like we're gonna be getting a couple of interesting characters in the future though. I hope they're to my tastes, I was personally a little disappointed that Zero wasn't going to stick around since she's a very appealing character to me, but alas.

We'll probably be seeing more of Zero and Golbez when 8.0 rolls around in a few years time. I wish we had G'raha's Crystal Exarch personality though because I really dislike his new one.

I don't know why you'd think that. This is a Final Fantasy game and the Scions are the party, you know, the main characters?

In the places I hang out the scions are immensely popular. They are introducing new characters in Dawntrail though, and it sounds like they are trying to let us see the scions from different angles with the whole "rivalry" plot.
We've been with these people for 10 years now, there are no new angles to them.
