We first have to define a "pet" before talking about a "real pet".

Depending on your definition, the Avatar can fit as a pet. In some other definitions, only the Chocobo companions would count as a pet.

It sounds like a troll to you, because it doesn't fit the definition you have in mind.

I'm not the one stating "reaper's pet is best pet" as if it's a truth. And the definition "I" have in mind is just to put it in perspective relative to what you said. Still, it's the definition that's on the mind of most people thinking pets but yours. Ie, giving commands and interacting with the pet, not just in a purely tacked on visual way.
