    And you know, I completely agree with this definition.

    I completely encourage SQEX to find a good solution to fix and bring engaging, responsive and fully enjoyable pets.
    But we never saw such pets, maybe because the cost was too high to implement the perfect pets, we won't know.

    As long as it focuses on a single target, everything is good.

    The biggest problem is that the AQ is a glorified dot. If you replaced it with an attack that dealt a dot, you would have the exact same result but visually different.
    Problem in Thordan too. Also the fact that it spends the first half of its duration doing nothing.

    I am just imaginging it as using the topaz carbuncle/titan-egi where it could tank ramuh. Except instead of it being an unintended interaction, its intended. As that summoner pet was designed to draw aggro to itself.

    I believe it's one of two things:
    - The game engine is unable to handle comprehensive pet AI
    - SE are unwilling to invest the funding/dev time needed to code a comprehensive pet AI

    I personally believe it's more so the latter...based on the current trend of AAA studios forcing devs into unrealistic dev cycles resulting in broken and unfinished games. Furthermore, comprehensive pet AI has existed in MMO's since the very beginning! FFXI and WoW are perfect examples of this!...So I refuse to believe a game engine from the early 2000's can outperform a current day game engine when it comes to pet classes and pet AI!....Something just doesn't add up there...and if FFXIV's engine is really that difficult to work with then it's time to switch engines and begin the transition to FFXIV-2, because an engine like that is nothing but a hindrance and only a fool would continue to develop a game using such a thing!....

    SMN/SCH were implemented because the community voted for a pet class. Therefore they should always be pet classes first and foremost!

    Plus Scholar got a bunch of tweaks for its fairy in endwalker, making it much more responsive and also less delay.

    I think them implementing Beastmaster as a limited job is a step in further refining the pet system or a way to take away pets from the main line jobs.

    This is true! I wish they would just copy over the same code for the Carbuncles/Egi!

    I really do hope Beastmaster will be a true pet class, where we have to tame the beasts that are out in the wild and then be able to command them! However I think it would be a mistake for SE to remove pets from the mainline jobs...Again, I think SMN/SCH should remain pet jobs, even if the pet AI is toned down compared to Beastmaster.     ikr. I'm with you with keeping the pets, in fact I want more interaction between the pets and SCH, but I am also not disregarding the fact that it could be a step towards streamlining the mainline jobs where if there is an itch for players to play pet job, there's Beastmaster.

    It’s much more likely we’ll see a pet system in beastmaster, where it’ll have its implementations as well as the jankyness. There’s also potential and possibilities for the how the pets will work in gathering strength. They could level alongside the player and have a number of skills. They could also borrow from the relic weapon upgrade system where you’re assigning points to stats to create your own build for that particular creature. We’ve seen their testing and implementing of portraits from that one dungeon, and we’ve seen them take the magicite summon,attack,away animations for heaven on high for new summoner; so we could see some borrowed elements along with pets to go about things. I’m all for the wacky adventures with my morbol.
