Which is in keeping with the FF series in general - plenty of spells, abilities and attacks have no meaning whatsoever other than "this is cool sounding and looks even cooler!" - Sephiroth's infamous 'Supernova' attack in FFVII is a case in point (if he has a spell that can obliterate the sun and by extension the entire solar system, why did he bother with that whole Meteor thing then?).

As I said before, not everything in the game has a lore reason, things are often just there for meta reasons or simply "this looks good". Just roll with it and enjoy it.

By '6.5 trial phase 2' do you mean Big Bang/Big Crunch, or the finale that busts out the Red Wings theme? Because that second one actually does have lore meaning, the Mare Lamentorum crew mention seeing the other side of it.

I mean obviously it's probably just because it's cool and they maybe just used a basic planet texture without getting specific with continents and such, but also that's the boring answer and sometimes it's fun to find ways to fit things into the lore.

This is sad because I love environmental storytelling, where the environment changes to reflect, hint, or tease something. (Like zones changing in GW2 to reflect the state of the world or a certain WoW boss arena in space could allow players to see the cosmic state of the universe and the unseen growing threat)
Especially when this game likes to have lore where gameplay reasons are justified (Fanta, glamour, etc...) but misses one of the major forms of story-telling which is the visuals. The story or lore you can only see with your eyes.

    Big bang
I'd have loved it if it happened for a reason and not just an imagination for no reason.
