Simple: another MMO that is better FFXIV.

Every times I hear someone talk about "FF14 is dying and we should jump ship when we can" I feel I don't even need to defend the game. Just simply point out: sure, show me a better ship then I'll jump. Tbh, as much as I like FF14, it has been about 10 years. Even if the Dev didn't mishap, I would be lying if I say I don't feel the game is getting old. The biggest issue isn't with FF14 itself, it's with the market. As often as anyone can point out singular shortcoming of this game, the fact is it's still the most polished package available on the market without any other MMO remotely come close. As trust me I tried, I have toured most of the MMO released in the past 15+ years, and I find no other MMO that has a balance of gameplay/story/aehthestic/QoL like FF14 do.


Again, if someone can show me a better ship, I'll gladly make the jump off this old ship. But there is no point to make a jump when all the alternative are inferior, or jump into the ocean (just quit MMO altogether).

PSO2 New Genesis I feel hits the mark fairly well in terms of MMO Action RPG. It still heavily uses instancing in it's design but it's far more seemless than FFXIV on the transitioning while also offering more actual RPG elements than FFXIV and FFXVI.

Monster Hunter did have an MMOish title at one point but they didn't take the title outside Japan. Granted they made that game long before MH World opened people's eyes to the franchise on a global level as the series was solid but more niche before then. ATM I don't really expect MH Wilds to be an MMO but the teaser we got at the game awards has raised thoughts that it may go to an actual open world design.

* A full set of pentamelded gear you have crafted yourself is required to progress the MSQ
* All jobs now have five "star" levels of "rarity" like in Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail, and all current players are set to the weakest "one-star" version. If you want to upgrade your job, you must pull mystery cards via a gacha system, spending tokens that you occasionally can get by playing the game but mainly are encouraged to purchase from the cash shop.
* Dying causes your character to lose experience points, and if you lose enough you are leveled down. If your character's level sinks below a duty's minimum range, you will be kicked from the duty. Yes, this includes all level-cap content, including savage/ultimate.
* Mandatory, open world PvP in all zones! Even cities! Yes, NPCs can be killed.
* All player characters now take up real space and cannot pass through each other.
* Y'Shtola finally figures out how to freely travel between shards, and receives a request from Runar that she come visit. Y'Shtola asks if it's okay if she brings her new boyfriend.

Currently WoW Season of Discovery is a lot better of an MMO than most of the current games out there. Even though its just remixed old content, but old content is still good content

There's a demographic of controller/console players who can't really approach wow. Nit to mention the community on blizzard games is elietist and comming in as a new player would be about getting gud before you really get you're feed on the ground. Raiding is restricting to guilds and add ons are essential. For those of us wanting to just log in and play it might not be approachable

So you have to actually know what you're doing and be half decent before you get to the hardest content in the game ?

This reply just proves the point I was making. That in order to get into the game you are forced to just BE good. The ladder isn't a climb its expected you take the elevator on arrival

Oh no you have to learn the game and how to play your job and not be lazy in high end duties. Savage raiding and ultimate's aren't content where you can netflix and chill in and requires precision and attention and communication if you could care less about performing at your jobs max potential and prefer to play lazily and not learn then you don't belong in raids. If people can't bother to do teamwork and communicate and expect to be carried they have no business in that content.
