I do not consider Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters to be the epitome of Japanese anime over the last 20-odd years.

From my watchlist on Crunchyroll, I present: Bureau of Paranormal Investigation [Chinese], Undead Murder Farce, Moriarty the Patriot, DRAMAtical Murder, Shinobi no Ittoki, Magic Kaito 1412.

From my watchlist on Hidive, I present: The Eminence in Shadow

From YouTube and Netflix [mostly Chinese donghua]: Carp Reborn, the Island of Siliang, A Mortal's Journey to Immortality, Battle through the Heaven, King's Avatar, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Heaven Official's Blessing, Qi Refining for 3000 Years, One Hundred Thousand Years of Refining Qi ...

Is there a lot of junk out there? Yes. You need to expand your source material, and figure out if you really enjoy Shónen anime geared to 9-18 year old boys. I expect you'd be more into Seinen anime these days. For your own sake, lay off the kodomo-muke anime types (Pokemon, Doraemon, Digimon, etc).
Nah I'm good thanks. I've never even heard if those wires animes you listed and find when I try to watch em I can't enjoy them. Shounen anime is the only anime I can get into and I don't wanna bleed your ears with why I think shounen anime is the definitive best kind of anime. You can lead me to crime/adult series but you can't make me like em

Yugioh and dragonball z are some of the best mangas and animes and in general works of art and writing to ever be produced. Literal master pieces. If ppl think they're for children they're committing peabrainism

Also an ffxiv anime would not honestly be enjoyable unless it really wasn't afraid to be honest about the game and make the jokes that need to be made in order for players to relate. Such as minfillia making you tp over and over to waking sands. Being put in aurum vale with a maniac sprout tank who pulls everything. Msq dialog choices that aren't really choices. Retainers bring roofs back and annoying loud bards playing in your face while your crafting

I think an ffxiv comic series with funny shorts would be better than a full blown anime.

Everyone would benefit from a FFXIV anime series
Maybe, maybe not. I reckon making animation and making videogame are two massively different thigs because these are fundamentally two different kinds of entertainment, i.e. videogame is interactive, which is a pretty pivotal feature where animation is not.

Let's start with questions which would hold interest to people making these kinds of projects happen: Would it be for teens, older teens, adults? "For everyone!" would just mean teens, which don't necessarily catch adults', not even adult anime watcher's interest.

We have seen enough fantasy videogames/mmo inspired anime sometimes married to isekai quirk, but would that cut it (with or without, you know, isekai)? Mmo players tend to use their characters to express themselves which would go against animation narrative's need to generalize heavily. Making the character arcs generic enough seems like necessary evil with grounding idea like this, but would that be interesting to enough people? Would that make FFXIV: teh anime too similar to its competitors?

For me personally; maybe if they managed to make it feel like Overlord, in my opinion the best time you can have with anime by premise 'we're all stuck in videogame (kinda)'. There is nothing too unique going on with Overlord, but to me the charm is being unique enough - compared to any random fantasy-inpired-by-videogame-tropes anime.

I'm just what-iffing here with very little sleep. Ultimately if SE wants to finance anime, they will, but I think they are too busy throwing their dwindling money to some other cracked projects.

I have no interest in such a series. There are already FF series and movies and there are more being made. Why do people need films/movies about every little detail and stories that have already been told? Leave some room to imagination. Just go and read about the story if you skipped everything. It takes far less time than a movies or a series.

    FFXIV doesn't need an anime
not like cyber punk where people suddenly like the game after it got one

I think a story focusing on a new sprout character where the WOL exists in the background as his/her inspiration without ever seeing the WOL could be interesting to see the world from someone else's perspective and how the WOL influenced the world.

    I would watch that.

I just want a FFXIV CGI movie with an original story. It could take place at the current time, or else at some point during a past expansion. The WoL would not be in it, for obvious reasons -- maybe they can be mentioned in passing, like one of the Scions says they are gone on some adventure or something.

I'd rather eat my left foot.

    Absolutely not.
