there's nothing really to take away from here that hasn't already been said i just find it funny how if you removed crit savage overnight practically no one would notice. there's just no way they're satisfied with that, right?

Square Enix probably is. FFXIV was always intended to be a "side game" that lets you play other games. It was originally planned as a "numbered Final Fantasy" game during a bygone era when that actually meant something. But considering the route FF16 went, there's not much prestige in that designation anymore. Square Enix is an easy-going company that isn't desperate for money, and they didn't expect FFXIV to still be this successful in 2023. If the game shut down tomorrow, most people at Square Enix would probably be fine because they're still hoarding money from FF7 which was made before all of the developers were geriatric.

In all reality, if CBU3 shut down permanently, the company would still make 90 billion yen per quarter from selling digital games (mobile, etc) and traditional video games.
