I've had someone accuse my irl spouse of being a p*do because they were married to me. Which is odd, considering the fact that I'm nearly thirty. But apparently that's underage. That's the worst of it, honestly - in all my years of playing.

What do «they» say about male au ra though?? Im confused
These people are not roleplayers and it's called being unable to distinguish between IC and OOC, aside from ignorin the entirety of Lalafell NPCs.The only odd treatment I've seen, based on what races and/or genders people choose to play, is Lalafells not being allowed to attend RP night clubs, and female Roegadyns getting the loving attention from their fans. I started off as a Lalafell way back in 2.X, and I finally got to the point where I can't really stand playing a Lalafell anymore, because people always get weird around them. I went Miqo'te to keep me satiated until the long-awaited female Hrothgar get implemented, and then I might fantasia one last time to a femHroth and stay that way.
That being said: I did encounter some subtle racism towards Viera during RP:
Basically calling them sluts because of their longevity.

I agree with her racism is something you cannot changeI think in order for it to count as racism, it has to be something you can't change with a fantasia. You chose to play an Au Ra and you can choose to play something else. You can't choose not to be black. Or Asian.
Is it right? No. But lets not dilute the word racism any further than it already has been by extending it to the freaking character you play in a vidya game.
sagacious
People definitely have preconceived notions about other players based on their chosen race, but if they didn't have that excuse they'd come up with something else. I had someone say "of course you're a half-naked male viera" once for disagreeing with them on some trivial thing in an alliance raid. The only 'revealing' thing I was wearing was the Paglth'an Chestwrap of Healing. And they were a female viera wearing the Viera Pantalettes. It's not even really worth worrying about.
i think racism is the descrimiation of somebody based on the race. simple as. whether or not you can change it in ffxiv is kind of also subjective, because yes, ofc u can change it.. but its not ur choice to do so if youre being harassed for it. youde be playing a race you didnt want to play, its like changing your sexuality. if its not done by choice but a lie to fit in.. you have changed at all. inside ur still that same person/race.
most of them are woman btw or lgbtq people. male aura are honestly rarley played by creepy men. are they played by creepy woman.. 100% but lets not pretend catgirls aren't 90% 35 year old men with "questionable" mods
Guy you're literally doing the exact same thing you're accusing others of.
bro gonna charge me for mass murder for killing a million player in PvP too
its harassment at best, not racism lmao
