Personally I could count on one hand (with three fingers cut off) how many times I've had "questionable" experiences from other players based upon my chosen race. I chose Lalafell because it fits with my immersion - the underdog, the small guy, seemingly weak yet powerful enough to . . . rule the world . . wait, did I say that out loud?

My first weird experience was a catgirl that kept sending me tells in Limsa after /hug me telling me I was a precious child and needed protecting from the world (I'm a 42 yr old bloke irl, so I found this amusing - especially when "she" started with the baby-like talk) I just ignored her and logged out anyway after a few mins.

The second was queuing up for a roulette and a big burly man-roe in the party immediately went "I don't play with no paedo-fells!" as we loaded in. He refused to do anything asking me to leave and basically being rude. I eventually just left (I was healer) to the thanks of the other players. Queued again and got into another dungeon . . the party consisted of me, that same Roe (looks like he either left or got kicked) . . and two other Lalafells . . . . it was like poetic justice. Me and the other Lalafells started /joy emoting towards the roe until he left.

Aside from that I haven't seen/experienced any issues with my chosen race or towards other races in about 4 years of playing. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe I don't frequent the right areas/servers/erp venues.

I've never personally experienced anything very negative, but I've heard the stereotypes going back as far as FFXI. I play both miqote and lalafell and I find it strange that if I'd chosen fantasia instead of leveling an alt, there are people who would feel entitled to judge my game marriage to my real life husband who plays an au ra. It's not a subject I think about very much, though. I'm almost fifty, our marriage is older than some of the players we meet, and it's just a waste of my time to worry about what people think of us or why they're playing any particular race themselves.

There was this one male Roe that followed me around Limsa once, pestering me. But, other than that, I've never had any bad experiences. The thing that get's me is people projecting human attributes on the races of the game. They aren't human, and all adventurers are understood to be adults of their species. Some people need to grow up and be realistic. I think most of us who play Lala are fine, it's those who view us as children who are suspect, especially when they get amorous. I happen to like being small and smashing things in the face with a huge weapon. Conversely, I've have a few alts of other races and have never experienced any kind of bias. Though, attention is another thing. My Miqote bard is constantly getting hit on, which can be annoying. I'm playing a game, not browsing a dating site.

95% of the male au'ras in my pvp matches have sandbagged my games. So I don't blame her.

have you experienced misstreatment or steriotyping over the race you play?
have you ever had somebody blacklist you for it..
whats your story if you have one. if you dont. whats your 2c on this issue. how should square deal with it

my worst experience is being blacklisted by a girl in my static because she had a bad male aura experience and blisted all of us on sight
HAHAHAHAHA So? No one here in this game is obligated to talk to you. That is THEIR CHOICE! Move on! People reserve the right to block you for any reason.

    Hey there!

I've been playing FFXIV for quite a while now, and I've got to say, I've never faced any negative vibes or "racism" in the game. It might be because I roll with a beefy male Roegadyn, and it seems like people enjoy the character's presence. Interestingly, whenever I encounter a fellow "Broegadyn," there's usually a spontaneous /pet, /dote, or /embrace session about to begin. It's kind of become a fun tradition.

I'm genuinely sorry to hear about your rough experience, especially being blacklisted by someone in your static due to a bad male aura encounter. That's a tough situation. Hopefully, the FFXIV community can continue to foster a positive and inclusive environment for players of all races. Have you tried reaching out to Square Enix support about the issue? They might have some insights or solutions.

Regardless, let's hope for a more welcoming community for everyone in Eorzea!

Fan of alternative characters, I play and will play almost all races (I'm waiting for the female Hroth). Here I'm trying to create a nice Roe. However, I have never personally experienced any form of racism, but have heard about it. Stereotypes about female Miq'otes players, about Lalafell players. I play these races for the RP side, I don't think I'm affected by these stereotypes since there is a story behind each character. However, what do people think when they see me? I don't know. My main character is a male Viera. Do you know the stereotype behind this breed? Personally, I don't know...
In general, I think people need to learn to shut up and let people play what they want. It's none of their business. Lalafell exist, it's not illegal to play them, so why complain?
