If it works steal it. I mean might as well. Make a SE launcher and have your friends list go through that so we don't have terrible 1.0 hold overs like we do now.
Yeah that's never going to happen, It's not worth the time and money to make the friends list load a little faster.
It goes beyond just that though. It makes an ecosystem for their games. Like 11,14 and even 15 instead of or as well as putting it on Steam. It's actually a really smart idea.
15's online systems were shutdown and for 11 well it's a PS2 game ported to PC that is developed on black market PS2 devkits and voodoo. It's not worth it for them.

Seeing as you can't even send DM's in instances, I would be willing to bet it's a lot more complicated then people think.
What's crazy is that back in 2004, you could do it in Classic Wow. So I have no idea what broke Kmart devs SE has, but their chat functionality is bad. And I'm not talking Bnet. This predates that. I remember when Bnet came out. You got a mini pet if you opted in.
