My server feels dead

Did you first start out playing FFXIV on Dynamis? If not, why did you choose Dynamis?

Me, I wanted a change. I was dying on Crystal. So I came to Dynamis as a fresh start. There was a bump in the beginning, and it felt like I was on the cusp of a new server that would eventually be full or close to full. I took a break and came back to it being worse off in every way. DC travel just ravaged everything about the server. It was dead beyond dead. So I left it. Went back home to Crystal, and I was alone for a long while. FCs come and go, but the one I had on Dynamis was different. It felt more like a family. So, against my better judgements, I went back. The FC was dead. The new leaders were never on the server, and it sucked. So I left that FC, and I've been alone again ever since. I've joined just about every FC on Maduin, and I'm just tired of how dead it is, but I'm stuck here till January 3rd. So there's not much I can do at this point.

I'm sorry, that doesn't sound fun. I guess for my playstyle, as long as the server is active, I'm good. I don't have a house, and am not interested in FC stuff.

I appreciate it. It's not ideal, but it's how it is. I submitted an application to an FC yesterday, and I've been at work all day, but it looks like they accepted me, so who knows. My perspective might change 180 degrees. Who knows? But honestly, it's just how it is. I'm not trying to farm sympathy or anything. Just figured I'd be honest.

Square Enix has no reason to care about people who play this game other than making sure their YoY balance sheet is in the positive. No company is obligated to care about people. That's just a fact of life. As long as you pay your sub, you're better than Square Enix could've hoped for. It's sad that social gaming in general is on the wane, because it filled a void left behind by modernity and its consequences. FFXIV is among the last of its kind. Oh well, the sales for FF7R and Dawntrail (both single-player RPGs) will make FY 2024 look very good so Square Enix can afford to bleed subscribers these next few months. Nothing else matters besides those two releases. If you don't like it, try to keep your friends on Discord or something so you can migrate them to a new game. FFXIV will decline and you will (hopefully) find something else and life will (hopefully) continue.

Well I gave Dynamis a shot from the day it was launched and honestly....I'd rather take my chances on a server like Gilgamesh on DT Launch day than play here. As I'm typing this there is currently 4 people in Radz-at-Han, literally no one outside of PotD, HoH, or EO. 1 person at Gangos, 0 in Zadnor and Bozja. 1-3 people in any of the EW zones, and 10 listings in the party finder of which 6 are ERP nightclubs. Jesus Christ this server is a shit show. And before I get the "holiday weekend" excuse, this is normal for Dynamis.

I stated out on faerie, but I never could get a house so when the Materia(Ravana)opened up I moved there. I got a mansion and a medium house right next to it and things were fine the first few months, but the server died, but to their credit they still ran the basic stuff to get you to level 90. Once you are level 90 and have completed all the reg stuff it was hard to get good que times. Then a new server in europe opened up and I sent an alt and created a new character to get the million and road to 80. Then dynamous opened up and I send a alt there and created a new character to get the million gil at lv 30. They helped each other with leveling up and crafting mats. When the new european server began to wane I sent the new character to Dynamous and sent the alt back to Materia(ravana).I created a new character on dynamous so that i'd have 4 here on dynamous and 4 on materia. Today they all have Islands and for that reason I log onto each everyday, Materia has my Fc workshop and I keep that going. I enjoy being alone and rp my characters into Cologne Enterprises Inc. I want to be a billionare and have 220 million so far. When a new server opens up I'll do as i always do and start a new character.

Most of the servers are going to feel this way because we are in one of the worst content droughts in the game's history with 8 months until the next expansion. Increasing the patch time from 3 months to 3.5 months to 4 months is having a deep impact on the game's population and most likely, SE's revenue as people start to go into long term hibernation. If we were on the old schedule, we would be weeks away from Dawn Trail but instead, its 8 more months.

Long term veteran players, like myself, have nothing left that they want to do so they are either going into long term hibernation or quitting the game with EW being a good stopping point.

I really want to play this game but... every time I reach for the login button, I ask myself... why. What's really sad for me is that I can't answer that question anymore.

Yeah, what community? In a game where you don't need to leave the comfort of your favourite Limsa street to queue for pretty much everything? At this point the RPers are keeping the game alive single handedly. lol Sad to see how the MMO aspect has been eroded. XI and XIV are like polar opposites on the MMO scale. A middle ground would be appreciated.

Either the RPers are keeping the game alive or the content consumers are turning into RPers over time.

So my current server is omega, but latley i just hate it. all the fcs are dead, and my friends never log in, the only 1 i had left who did hates me and the NN is a hell hole of self entitleds. i wanna stay on EU if thats ok, because its closer to me in terms of connection. but after spending some time on cloud servers i realized that the community just felt "missing" and its not just my fc either. ive tried like 20 different fcs since 6.3.. but its all the same.. nobodys playing

any recomendations? any good servers, lots of community, lots of login, and limsa shtposting? after 3 years of having basically no1 to hang out with.. i just kinda miss it.
