They probably should. However, once every 2 years or so, they'll put out an expansion that sees a surge in activity and makes them think it's justified to add a whole 'nother data center that turns out dead as hell after a few weeks.
Maybe the cloud infrastructure will solve this problem and let them consolidate without running into quality issues.

I think they severely overestimated how many of those players during Endwalker launch would actually stay.
Since XIV had, up to that point, been slowly and organically growing they probably expected the same to happen this time, not taking into account the massive surge of new players wasn't the organic growth of the game but the unnatural spike caused by other MMOs having a meltdown.
Certainly didn't help that DC travel just enabled everyone to congregate on a single server pool and leave the others barren wastelands.

Yeah, what community? In a game where you don't need to leave the comfort of your favourite Limsa street to queue for pretty much everything? At this point the RPers are keeping the game alive single handedly. lol Sad to see how the MMO aspect has been eroded. XI and XIV are like polar opposites on the MMO scale. A middle ground would be appreciated.I've come to just accept this isn't really a MMORPG but a single player game with multi-player available during certain times of day.
I recently played another "MMORPG" for a month and made a startling observation. A literal 25 year old game of the same genre as this one has more people playing and around to do things with during "off", non-peak, hours (for North America) than this one does despite having far less population and, so-called, popularity.
Let that sink in
Either the RPers are keeping the game alive or the content consumers are turning into RPers over time.Yeah, what community? 99.99% chance probably a Titanman alt

How happy that would make me... All I could dream of in a FF MMO.Yeah, what community? Think this is why I enjoy Eureka and Bozja/Zadnor. They're really the only time, outside of hunts, that the game feels like an MMORPG. People are off farming different zones, spawning different mobs or farming clusters. If SE could find a way to implement that into the actual game world then we'd be golden. But sadly if you want all that you have to DC hop to Gilgamesh.

its really eay. they even olmost did it. fates and hunts. problem is there 0 reasons to do it. each expansion have ONE fate that you need for a glam. that it. like make some fate you need to do, each one getting harder. there like 3-5 of them and after this a really hard boss will be out on the map. this boss have some good drops of materials and glam.Think this is why I enjoy Eureka and Bozja/Zadnor.
