Kinda impressed that they thought ahead and made housing FCFS. Kinda kills my idea of playing with the bidding system. But probably better for getting any housing to actually happen in a week.

Oh good to know! Might try it out tomorrow then. You can join at any time up to next Monday evening when the testing is scheduled to end.
Because this is a stress test, there's no such thing as "enough participating". The point is to stress the cloud servers to see if they're capable of carrying expansion release size loads and so far the queues aren't getting quite that high.
As for cloud servers being able to create infinite housing, I don't think it would work quite like that unless SE did choose to add in a better instanced housing system. As an East Coast player, I’m really interested to see how much better it feels. Don’t know if I’ll have the patience to get my GC rank up or not for a house, but we’ll see! lol
At least the possibility is there… hopefully the test goes well and they’ll start looking into what all they can do with it.
It didn't take me that long to get GC rank up (though I was doing it because of hunts and not for housing). Do the GC hunting log and get the additional seals you need to progress to Sergeant Second Class by doing FATEs in one of the Stormblood zones. Once you've done Sergeant Second Class, you can get the rest of the seals you need through Expert Delivery. I turned in gear I got from the job boosts for the jobs I won't use (just before you don't turn in the gear you are using by accident). You could also quickly solo a few HW dungeons for gear to turn in, you should get at least 5k seals per clear.Oh good to know! This is almost over but if you have a little time to spare, make a character on one of the test servers and check out some of the many houses decorated by testers (primarily from JP) before they get destroyed when the servers go down. Many are listed in Party Finder.
For the descriptions that are in JP, look for 01 or 02 (indicates which test realm), then ##-## (ward and plot). The housing district is usually listed using the auto-translation dictionary.

Do we know an exact time the servers will go down or is it just reset tomorrow?

I got the extra seals by running levelling roulette with whatever was in need at the time (=3000 seals bonus) then once I could hand in gear, I cashed in everything I'd picked up in the dungeons.
