Housing stress test

Anybody going to be trying to break anything next week for the cloud server? Assuming housing districts will be open (naturally the one week limit hinders most testing).

Do you think the lottery system could handle it if everyone agreed to all bid on the same plot?

Or

What does the system do if you bid on a plot, and delete your character? What if you immediately make a new character and bid again on the same plot? How many new characters/bids can you make on the same plot?

I wasn't even thinking about housing when it came to things to do during the stress test. Breaking the servers is the point of a stress test, not breaking the content (that's for beta testing).

As for your specific ideas, I don't think you'd be able to get everyone to bid on the exact same plot to push the lottery system to any limit it might have for entries. We know it can handle at least 1000 entries thanks to Balmung.

On deleting a character after bidding, I doubt it would change anything about how the system works. If the characters wins, it won't be able to claim the plot so it would rollover to the next lottery period. If it loses, it won't be able to claim a refund. It wouldn't be an effective way to exploit the system on the live servers (but it would be very expensive).

Debating whether or not I want to roll a cloud character just to snag my dream plot for a week… lol

Just wish you could get something for your main out of it… like maybe a Twintania mount or something. Never did get enough feathers for that! Or a way to send your main any unused gil out of that 50 million! lol

Honestly, didn't even know any had hit 1000+. That was part of my curiosity. Know we've already seen that and haven't hit any limits, seems unlikely we could push any harder in a week's time.

Yeah, the week is going to go by faster than people think especially with the congestion that will be caused by everyone participating trying to create characters and get into the game the first couple of days while SE is juggling technical settings in the background.

Those who have never participated in a stress test or beta (real beta, not free demo publicity disguised as a beta test) for a major MMO before are going to have their patience tested.

For those participating in the stress test:

Housing is First Come, First Serve (no lottery) on CloudTest01 and CloudTest02. You will need to do the "Where the Heart Is" quest for the housing district where you intend to purchase in addition to getting Second Lieutenant with your Grand Company (not part of a job boost or the MSQ skip).

While technically the 50 million that every character gets is enough to purchase any plot in the game, you're still going to have to come up with another 3 million to purchase the construction permit if you purchase a LB5 or other Grade 1 large and actually want to have a house and not just an empty plot for a week.

I can’t even remember how long it took to hit the GC rank when I did it on my alt. lol I assume they probably already have enough testers. I wanted to try it, but this is a bad week at work for me, and not sure if you can still do it at this point or if you had to be there the first day. People seem to be reporting excellent ping!

At any rate, does anyone think that cloud servers could be used to help the housing scarcity problem? Like could they just create infinite wards using cloud servers and not have it bog down the main servers? Or even move all housing to cloud altogether? I’m not really sure what all the cloud tech is capable of, so I’m asking. lol

You can join at any time up to next Monday evening when the testing is scheduled to end.

Because this is a stress test, there's no such thing as "enough participating". The point is to stress the cloud servers to see if they're capable of carrying expansion release size loads and so far the queues aren't getting quite that high.

As for cloud servers being able to create infinite housing, I don't think it would work quite like that unless SE did choose to add in a better instanced housing system.
