cat pipils change and get big and small (slit) depending on light, like us humans. I dont think there is any cat type that have permanent slit pupils like you are talking about. Also the ones hunting in the night would have round pupils. There are two small tribal settlements (plus some integrated J tribe members in an Ala Mhigan town) made up of one tribe each in arid regions, but most sun cats in Eorzea are from Limsa. They have many tribes represented there and make up 20% of the city-state’s population while their presence in Ul’dah is so small it doesn’t even chart, oddly enough.
The thing about Miqo’te eyes that I’ve always thought is weird is that typically only small predators that hide in the grass and hunt during the night have slit pupils. Something about giving them a wider range of light vision and helping ambush things. All cats bigger than a house cat have normal, round pupils. FFXI’s Mithra didn’t have slit pupils either. But fantasy logic, I guess.
But my thought is that ffxiv wanted to really empasize that these cats are day cats and these are night cats with the pupils.
I’m not saying that there are cats that have permanent slit pupils, I’m saying that anything bigger than a house cat doesn’t have the ability to have them at all.cat pipils change and get big and small (slit) depending on light, like us humans. Having the ability to constrict pupils like that is there for night creatures with sensitive eyes (animals like house cats constrict their pupils to a much greater degree than humans) to be able to see better in the daytime and the vertical slit also has something to do with helping ambush prey through the grass or something when they’re constricted like that when it’s light out. But I guess it only helps smaller things or only smaller things hunt like that because tigers and lions and any cat bigger than a bread basket doesn’t have them.
It doesn’t make much sense for omnivorous vaguely cat-ish beings the size of people (that don’t even have forward-facing cat ears!) to have vertical slit pupils. But this is Final Fantasy so bringing science into a fantasy game only takes you so far.
Ohh i never realized that big cats dont have them. Thats cool. Yea In that case the eyes on suncat dont really make sense but i still enjoy the eyes on both clans. As you said its final fantasy, it doesnt really bother me at all.I’m not saying that there are cats that have permanent slit pupils, I’m saying that anything bigger than a house cat doesn’t have the ability to have them at all.

I have never noticed it before tbh and I have probably made more moon and sun cats than I dare to admit too over the years. I remember way back that Moon cats had larger boobs than the sun and also Hyur females had bigger depending on their face.
Ahh yes, the 1.0 character creator.
Good times.

This sounds great. I wish it was still like that tbh
Haha I think people may kick off if Moons had larger boobs but maybe not I do not know! The boobs in 1.0 where too small though that is probably one of the only thing I do not miss about 1.0.
The Moon keepers also had longer tails which where nice as there was no tail slider and the CC was even more limited so what we have now is better, though I wish there where more options for everyone and little differences here and there. ^O^
