The thing about Miqo’te eyes that I’ve always thought is weird is that typically only small predators that hide in the grass and hunt during the night have slit pupils. Something about giving them a wider range of light vision and helping ambush things. All cats bigger than a house cat have normal, round pupils. FFXI’s Mithra didn’t have slit pupils either. But fantasy logic, I guess.
cat pipils change and get big and small (slit) depending on light, like us humans. I dont think there is any cat type that have permanent slit pupils like you are talking about. Also the ones hunting in the night would have round pupils.

But my thought is that ffxiv wanted to really empasize that these cats are day cats and these are night cats with the pupils.
