Is this about the 2nd visit to Labyrinthos? Cause if idk you paid attention you'd know everyone else is already helping out. Most of the time we're moving boxes or handing out food is because everyone else is busy with doing something else. Or it's someone who feels that the average person could get a moral boost by the Champion of Eorzea, Hero of Ishgard, Warrior of Light, Liberator of Doma and Ala Mhigo and stealer of pants. If that means handing them a drink or some soup then oh no. Also yes we are stupid famous, but not even your average Garlean let alone some random person in Thavnir knows what we look like. Then there are the rare few who don't care who we are and will still foolishly challenge us to a fight or that we need to prove ourselves to them.

Don't let OP know all game quests ever can be boiled down to either "get this thing" or "interact with this object" both which involved going from point A to point B (with points C through Z added for flavor) then back to point A. Whether or not you personally enjoy/tolerate them is up to set dressing and your own tastes.

Also in the narrative being spun, the player character is a generally kind person who mostly doesn't mind going out of their way to help others, that's just sort of how these types of RPGs go when you're piloting a character that's mostly on-rails instead of completely untethered and unattached to any story beats.

I'm not defending bloat, as there is a lot of it in the MSQ. However, the little things we do for NPCs are what makes us less the Hero, and more the Champion.

We rescued the world as a hero. Yet, as a champion we help others to participate in their own rescue.

It's good for character. Proves we're not too high and lofty for simple acts of kindness.

Im also in this same boat. I dont mind these kind of quests were we still wind up doing the small things. Narrative wise, I love em since it keeps us being grounded in the grand scheme of things.

But the real issue is just the amount of quests that are structured like this, narrative wise or not. We need more interesting quests.

I attest to that. Questing in general is probably my least favorite part of this game; the actual in-between stuff is just so agonizingly slow. There's so much about the way you interact with quests that halts your progression for tiny little amounts, but there's so many instances of it over the course of even a handful of quests that it adds up to feel like a lot.

For every sentence or two an npc says, there's a pause where they have to do an emote, or turn to another npc, or slowly walk away and fade into the distance, or any combination of those, before you're able to continue dialogue. And if feels like every quest is just full of this. I find it exhausting.

problem is how well its integrated in to what's going on now in the plot.

One thing I think they could improve is instead of doing menial chores, we could actually be tasked with simply talking to a number of the npcs in the area for just flavour text to show their thoughts on what just happened/about to happen. Often there are a lot of neat little dialogues that you can miss from npcs.

And no, I don't mean the 'talk to 3 npcs who all slowly give you a clue where something is' quest, they do that quite enough already.

why make it so dragging and bad? i better have a 5h MSQ that this.
are we the HERO or an errand boy that at each point no meter how far being tolled he is need to help as well.
did the devs ever played the story they created?
The WoL is a kind considerate soul that is willing to help others.

Sometimes that help means smashing bad guys.

They're also an intelligence agent in training that has learned that sometimes doing manual labor will yield information desired.

Yes, the developers have played the story they created. It could be that story they created doesn't match the story you expect to play.

Ever stop to consider that a hero's life is 5% being a hero and 95% being an ordinary person like everyone else?

It sounds like you prefer action RPGs over RPGs driven by story. This isn't an action RPG, though. You're going to get your high tension, combat filled moments but they're going to be the exception as you also get a lot of ordinary moments.
