You got 3 other achievements along the way, with one title at the last and final one.

It's basically the same with the levequests, hunts and other gold saucer ones - Giving the most dedicated ones a badge of honor.
Plus it will come around back pretty often, likely during the Make it Rain events that will fill the gaps until Dawntrail.

So I think its fine. Consider it a long-term goal of yours.

Since its a Gold Saucer Event this very likely will be used to partially fill the gaps until Dawntrail's release, partially with the Make it Rain campaign and perhaps also in lulls between the usual annual events.

One can wonder about the layoff situation over there, though, and if that could affect any future events with it.

You are literally assuming though, we have 0 proof of anything, you're just taking wild guesses to justify the achievement.

I do. And I think such achievements have a place in the game for those who are dedicated enough to do them.
For everyone else, there are the rewards from doing the event itself. And there are a few things to get what I saw in the prize vendor.
