I'm kinda inclined to agree with you here. I worry a little about this game's future but they still have time to present something more appealing to the XI crowd. If SE is really ballsy enough to alienate XI players by flooding XIV with awhole bunch of WoW-like 'casual?' stuff (yes.. that's my opinion..) without catering to some of the greater aspects from XI then so be it. Everyone tries to clone WoW for profits.. yet everyone fails at actually pulling it off.. Wouldn't surprise me that XIV is forced to attempt a similar approach due to that devastating launch. I think going down that route would just eventually just lead this MMO into the dirt with the rest of the clones, but hell, let em try it if they want. XIV's dedicated player base primarily came from XI.. so if/when we leave.. good luck XIV. They'll be limping along with abunch of MMO-swapping casual players.. like the rest of the clones..
OP, Patriarch's thread (think called Highly Notorious Monsters) does a really good job of addressing this issue. Although he does talk about instanced content, it's really moreso focused on the content that we don't currently have (open-world). Might be better to add to that one since the Dev's are already taking a look at it. I do agree with you though, good post.
