The new eyes look better, IMHO. The old eyes look simply dead.
Cheers
I actually agree, but if people liked the old eyes it's gonna take some adjusting.
Personally I'm very excited for the update and I think everything they've shown looks better than what we have currently, but I'm probably just not as attached to my character as others are.
and to be fair to those that do like the old eyes. It shouldn't be a case where they should be forced to adjust. The update was slated to not heavily affect the look of characters so people don't need to feel the need to change their looks, yet it potentially seems like that is the case for Au Ras that did like the old look of Limbals/the lack of a glow. I made my character to build around the limbal rings to make them work to great effect I really enjoy. I don't want to go 12 dollars deeper into the new expansion just to fix the look of my character when it was noted there shouldn't have to be a need in the first place.I actually agree, but if people liked the old eyes it's gonna take some adjusting.

Just offer sliders and more customization to the limbal rings so everyone's happy, from offering more light/to allowing them to glow or not.
Ultimately I think everyone's going to have to accept that there will be some changes as it's almost impossible do a big update/upgrade like this without any changes at all, but me thinking all the changes look good isn't meant to take away from others not feeling the same way and if people don't like what they're seeing they should absolutely voice their concerns and I'm not arguing against that.and to be fair to those that do like the old eyes. I do wonder how realistic it is to hope for toggles or sliders though, the limbal rings occupy the same slots as tattoos do for other races and other than finally adding a much-needed hairstyle section for Hrothgar they unfortunately never seem to add any new options to the actual character creator.
It certainly doesn't hurt to ask though, judging by the shiny horn section during the keynote they're very open to feedback so at worst they'll say this is what they want it to look like and they won't reverse it, and at best they can and will still tweak it to try and make both sides happy.

That would be okay, if that was noted of such things occurring. But they literally said in the last fan fest that they approached things to avoid this same exact thing from happening. The limbal rings creates a big change to the look of Au Ra characters eyes and there is a clear division. I am happy the eyes look better, but I dislike the limbal rings looking dull or not having a glow to them to give the effect I wished for my character when I made her.
So again, there shouldn't be a need to adjust, when the devs assured there shouldn't need to be one. Everything else looks fine, the only thing that has drastically changed is the limbal rings which needs reasonable adjustments to accommodate everyone who liked certain styles of it. Not alienate them/ruinning the desired looks for their characters.
A simple toggle of allowing them to glow or not would be fine and I think easy to do. Otherwise, I would say this would warrant a free fantasia since the limbal rings are a distinct feature that can affect the look of a character for people, either from a positive/negative standpoint. I built my character with the limbal's glow in mind, so these changes heavily affect what I was going for with my character.
Even if they did revert the changes to limbal rings I think it should come with a free Fantasia, with new normal maps some faces will look a little different despite being technically the same and those are things that cannot be changed at the aesthetician.A simple toggle of allowing them to glow or not would be fine and I think easy to do. I'm a fan of the new limbal rings, but my character also doesn't have very bright ones. I do have concerns about how it will effect characters who do have a strong contrast between their limbal ring color and their main eye color, because it may effect the overall characters appearance too much. A toggleable option would be a nice compromise for people who want the old style but I don't know if that's even in the realm of possibility within the games programming...
I currently use the 2nd darkest color option for limbal rings, and depending on the lighting they still glow just as bright as the lighter colors. I used to use a very light color on my character before opting to darken it because I liked the appearance more... If anything if they're able to make the darker colors actually look dark and the lighter colors look light, I think that would please more people.

Yeah, I am definitely not a fan of the limbal rings becoming so much duller in color. My boy has baby blue irises but bright electric blue limbal rings, gives him the appearance that his eyes are bioluminescent; if this change stays my limbal rings will likely not be visible at all anymore.
I do hope they give some kind of minor glow layer to the limbal rings so they continue to stand out no matter what colors you choose.
