I agree with the above. I have an Au Ra character where I purposefully used black irises and white limbal rings for a unique effect, and if it's faded and no longer looks like it's glowing it will be such a shame. Perhaps there could be an option for a 'bright' or 'faded' effect, similar to how makeup can be togged back and forth in the character creator?

I agree with OP entirely. I don't have an Au Ra character, but in order to keep the NPCs looking the same my vote is to keep the limbal rings as they are.
I don't really understand the need for a graphics update to be perfectly honest; the existing graphics work well and make the game accessible for more PCs, while once the update ships I will need to replace my computers in order to play due to the increased hard drive space and requirements. But at the very least the update shouldn't come at the cost of what makes each race unique.
As an Au Ra main, I would be really sad if the hallmark limbal "glow" were removed. I think it's a fun and unique trait of the race. Similarly, I am concerned that in early pictures it appears that the black sclera for Xaela has also been removed. This is another trait that absolutely makes my character "look and feel" like himself. I love both the black sclera and glowing limbal rings, so I truly hope the graphical updates can maintain those two defining racial features!

I think, before you go AGAISNT the change you should experience it itself on something like benchmark to see if you really is agaisnt it or just being anxious on things you can find a bridge between
I think it's more troublesome for the devs to only give them feedback closer to release. They can judge for themselves whether these concerns are valid, but if we wait for the benchmark, they might say "Oh we had no idea, but we don't have time to change it now."

I'd love to have both as options. Some characters the hard edges look great, and in some the softer edges would look good. Like the 'Light' and 'Dark' options for lipstick colors, there could be 'Hard' and 'Soft' options for the limbal rings.
Made an account just to reply to this thread because I'm desperate lmao.... I do agree there should be both options but I really prefer the old limbal rings. I don't even just want the glow back, I also liked that it was sharp and uncanny, a lot of people seem to like the new version because it looks natural but that's exactly why I don't like it.

Yeah, please don't take them away. I love the glowy effect on my Au Ra. She wouldn't look the same without it and I am very attached to my characters.
The only thing I ever changed in six different characters was giving my miqo'te facial hair after SB, because there was no time for shaving during war.
I don't mind if they make the rings look better, they aren't very smooth edged at the moment, but don't remove their LED ring effect... :c
Not sure about the exact colors I used, but depending on how the gradient will work it will just be the same color for my WoLs eyes, without any visible ring effect.
At least add a slider please. The new eyes also look good, probably fitting for some players, but they just don't feel right for my characters look I think.
The rings add some sort of magical, aethereal effect to them if done right. Or as I've seen on some other players, they can make a character look more demonic/badass, which is also cool.

I actually don't mind the softer look of the limbal rings, but what would be awesome is if those softer rings still held a glow to them. I can't tell with the example picture since the character is outside with warm color eyes. The updated version is a awesome change so I am not against this. I play a male Au'ra that has black eyes and pure white limbal rings which helps the contrast since my whole eyeball is black. I'm fine with this change if the glow is still there.
