    That's more like what the trust system in FFXI is, you basically summon clones of NPCs that follow you around and fight with you. But FFXI has an entire world that was meant to be experienced in a party and not solo, so it makes more sense there. They'd need to invent a reason to not be alone gameplay-wise for FFXIV, which is the opposite of the direction the game has been going in becoming more solo-friendly lately.

    I agree that the game has been heading into a more solo friendly direction as of late, and as you said they need to come up with a way to make adventuring with other people a more fun and enjoyable experience. I'm a bit of a solo player especially recently, I have been doing the MSQ again and going through the story because I skipped the first time, so I'm genuinely experiencing the story for the first time when this thought came to my head.
