Suggestion to the developers before the release of Dawntrail

That's more like what the trust system in FFXI is, you basically summon clones of NPCs that follow you around and fight with you. But FFXI has an entire world that was meant to be experienced in a party and not solo, so it makes more sense there. They'd need to invent a reason to not be alone gameplay-wise for FFXIV, which is the opposite of the direction the game has been going in becoming more solo-friendly lately.

I agree that the game has been heading into a more solo friendly direction as of late, and as you said they need to come up with a way to make adventuring with other people a more fun and enjoyable experience. I'm a bit of a solo player especially recently, I have been doing the MSQ again and going through the story because I skipped the first time, so I'm genuinely experiencing the story for the first time when this thought came to my head.

If you only want one of them to wander around with you in a non-combat role, it is certainly doable with the technology now. All they will need to do is create a full size minion that is invisible to others.

it is certainly doable, would prefer combat also and having them following me between quests or even gathering as well. They don't need to do a lot of damage or even gather large amounts just being there dong minimum effort so that we all feel a little bit less alone in-game.

Hi everyone!
I've been playing FFXIV for almost two and a half years now, I love the game and I have been enjoying playing from time to time between patches and sometimes just log in and walk around doing random things from duty roulette to crafting to weekly's and all of that.

An idea came to my head that since I am a bit more of a solo player it would be cool if I could just walk up to Thancred, Alphinaud, Alisaie, and kind of let hthem tag along with me in my party and we could go from aetheryte to another, city to another and just tag along with me adventuring anywhere. They could help me in battle, then go in a dungeon with me, tag along while I am gathering. To summarize it would be pretty cool if we could just have them walk and tag along with us instead of going solo.

I would love to hear everybody's thought about it so do let me know

There is a similar system to for this in ff11 where you can call for npcs but it only works out of town, it could prob work here but seems like they would need a lot of time to work on it like most features this game has which take more than 2 expansions to fully expand on.

Just hire a player to cosplay an NPC to interact with you and follow you around. Done.
