How has every other major MMO solved the problem of downtime other than FF14?

They haven't, I've been playing WoW since DF, EVERY major patch has led to days worth of downtime, even the minor patches cause multiple outages. They will say 8 or 10 hours of downtime, but experience so many issues they are forced to take servers down repeatedly for multiple days in a row. I would much rather FF be down a day and patched right than deal with repeated bugs for days on end.

Its obvious OP doesnt play any other MMO besides FFXIV so they just make these half-baked assumptions of other games in order to make their point.

I remember the original launch of WoW... Game purchase included 30 days of game time... I didn't get a subscription charge until like 3 months later due to all the free time extensions they handed out due to server issues lol...

As for the whole gripe about FF14 having a 24 hour maintenance for a large content update. That is fairly normal tbh. Hell even mobile games have downtime periods that long for large content updates.
