In terms of percentage losses, perhaps. But, I think anyone here would point out the fragility of small sample sizes if they were looking at a fall from 100 to 20 over the past month.
30k+ players, on the other hand, is far past the point of running into issues inherent to low sample size, and would only be 'tainted' if there were something about which button one clicks to access the game (double-clicking from Steam or just clicking, waiting, inputting one's password, and clicking again on the official launcher) that would cause players to play less between patches than most people.
