I think the sets actually refer to them, but just one at a time. Judging by a some slight references within the sihouette and elements, Aglaia seems to be based on Nadl'Thal, Euphrosyne on Menphina, and I can assume then that Thaleia is about the not yet revealed last boss.

Said that, I wish the designs could reference more than just the last boss, it would create a bit more diversity in the visuals, while keeping cohese with the theme.

All of them fitting the same theme is definitely part of why they're so drab. Especially when you compare it to the Nier and Ivalice gear that had individual references.

Ivalice gear in general is rather boring imo. Amd I wouldn't call the Nier stuff unique either. It's all very samey

Nier had individual references like Devola/Popola, Ivalice had Balthier and Vaan outfits, as well as FF Tactics outfits.
