If they remove positionals then they have to compensate, which is not going to happen, hence why things won't change at all. The game is already getting numbed down further, with or without our voiced opinions.on second thought, maybe it's a good thing SE ignores this place entirely considering the god awful takes I'm seeing with positionals in this thread. you people seriously think it would be better to just axe positionals entirely when we could just. you know? have one positional focused job so you don't have to play it?? it's not like anyone here goddamn plays Monk anyway so it wouldn't even effect them.
I'll just say this: if you're for the removal of positionals, then you're (voluntarily or not) supporting homogenization. so don't act surprised for if they one day do remove them and fight design doesn't actually change at all and you're still stuck with a boring job.
Okay well, why was it added then? Since it was added in 4.0, and melee did fine before that, what's the purpose of it?

Yes, let's remove one battle feature at a time under the guise of Quality of Life.
Let's remove job synergy, 'cause balance. Who wants to get left behind by meta slaves. QoL+1
Let's make all roles as samey as possible so nobody feels left behind. QoL+1
Let's make dungeons as bland as humanly possible so it's over faster. Wouldn't that be convenient? QoL+1
Let's remove AST's unique card effects (just to name a random example) because bad RNG could leave to a bad parse. QoL+1
Let's make bosses bigger so people can have more uptime or they'll be sad. QoL+1
Let's remove TP because it just hinders you doing damage. QoL+1
Let's dumb down MP because running out of it might make people feel sad. QoL+1
Let's remove debuffs because it's inconvenient to carry echo drop or use Esuna or something. QoL+1
Let's remove the last vestige of positionals because it's inconvenient to move around and my parse might suffer. I just want to stand in place. QoL+1
Let's make bosses brain-dead easy so nobody stresses out too much. QoL+1
Let's turn relics into a tome stone dump otherwise people feel forced to play. QoL+1
Let's remove almost all buffs and put the ones that we still have on a 2 mimute timer so you never need to think about it too much. Wouldn't that be convenient? QoL+1
And we wonder why the game is becoming more and more stale. Smh
This line of thinking is just reductive.
We shouldn't ask for stuff to be removed anymore. People who do clearly don't see the bigger picture.
The slightest bit of "inconvenience" is the point of playing a video game. Otherwise it would be called, I dunno... a movie. It doesn't matter what you think about each individual point. What matters is that the game keeps on removing features without adding anything back in.
Instead of asking for removing something how about we add something on top?
Talking about missing the forest for the trees.
The report system could use a step to two less to get a ticket out.
The UI sould have a rightklick -> "Show crafting recipe" when I do crafting quests instead of digging through the menu yourself.
And the relic upgrade shouldn't need a spare main weapon for your job to switch to for a moment in order to get it done.
It took them 10 years to add timers in the party window for buffs/debuffs. It's clear people are complaining about homogenization, but reality is, SE doesn't care what we think. They'll do what they think is better, which is not necessarily always good.
Just a quick post but personally I don’t think ‘simplified’ and ‘boring’ are mutually exclusive.
Things can be simplistic enough to pick up but still fun and interesting. Why does it always have to be a choice between complex or cardboard lol
They've already dumbed down everything. *Positionals serve no purpose* . Because they've been dumbed down, when this game was still a game and not a chatroom, when you missed your positionals they would flat out break combos or you wouldn't get the effect (ex; heavy trust dmg up).
If positionals actually gave you audiovisual feedback on whether or not you hit them they'd already long have been removed from the game cause players would realize how obnoxious they are. Positionals are a tank mechanic that doesn't work with lag (you hit the positional on execution of the ability, not on button press) and that punishes Melee if the tank fails, I hate stuff like that. Positionals never feel good when executed correctly. However they always feel miserable when something happens that prevents you from hitting it that's outside of your control.
You can also get 2 from yellow sidequests.
They go for like 100k on the market, and the reason for them being so expensive is because they take 10 days to grow and it takes several crossbreeding chains to even get the seeds.
