    What are some things you would be okay with SE dumbing down?

    Here is a fun question for you all. Everyone is concerned with dumbing the game down and trivializing things. Which is completely understandable. We have been discussing how the game has been getting easier till we been blue in the face. So, let's flip the script a little bit so we know where to draw the line at.

    What are some things you would be personally completely okay with if they trivialized or dumbed it down some? Feel free to get into some hot take territory on how you really feel.

    Me personally, I would be okay with if they toned Bard down some a bit. Currently it's way to punishing compared to the other Physical Range jobs. Considering it's a matter of time before a 4th physical range is added, I'd hope they get Bard on the right track before that happens.

    Methinks a spear up the behind would do more damage than a spear deflected by a parrying/shielding/aware enemy lol.

    Only dumbing down I wouldn't mind at this point would be a fishing tacklebox and a crafting box that I could dump mats in and not worry about clogging my inventory.

    However...by dumbing this down we expect rotations and bosses to become more complex

    I am amazed the process to dye a chocobo was never changed to anything that made more sense and it is still largely random if it picks the right color after feeding it far too many fruits. Add in this process takes hours to complete for some reason and I am really shocked this was never touched in any modern updating.

    Buying the game - I had 2 friends who gave up halfway trough the process and asked for my assistance

    Applying glamours - There is 30 classes if we count DoL/DoH but we dont have 30 glamour plates. If having 30 plates counts as dumbing it down then... yeah please do

    Savage tomes - I dont like currencies that take inventory space, it would be nice to have a Page storage tab somewhere or a currency on a new tab

    Friend list - If it counts as dumbing it down removing the requirement to click a button to know who is online on other worlds then please do

    Mentioned above, make it easier to dye your chocobo

    And the one I would like them the most to do... is to "dumb down" the ammount of effort required to make an Alt. This could be things like, make mogstation glams account wide, make MSQ Unlocks account wide (So you can enter a dungeon even if the chatacter is not there in MSQ), make aether currents account wide, make adventurer squadron account wide

    Thats what comes off the top of my head

    Button quantity for button quality.





    I'd rather have fewer buttons with better skills/skill ceiling than more buttons to make rotations look bloated.





    20-24 is enough.

    As a controller player, I think too many jobs have too many redundant buttons. The crosshotbar can only visualize 16 actions at a time, so the buttons that contribute to surpassing that limit without actually providing meaningful gameplay are the target of my ire. From a design perspective, for a button to be worth one of the limited spaces on my hotbar, it needs to do something distinct that separates it from everything else. And that thing should be something genuinely cool and interesting. 2 oGCD's that just do damage? Throw at least one in the trash, it's wasting my time. Triple-cast AND Swiftcast? One belongs in the dumpster because it's not different enough to be worth a whole additional button. 10 combo buttons for Dragoon? Honestly silly when it could just be 3.

    Rotations can be extremely fun when each button does something meaningful. But far too many of the buttons we have feel more like "filler" than actual compelling parts of a kit.
