uh, the game didnt change during the past 10 years and it wont change in the next 10 years.-Looks at the many types of Threads posted on this Forum Recently-
Y'know...the more of these threads I see, the more excited I am for the Future of this game and what happens next.
At this point, I just wanna see how it changes, and how the audience changes.
Or if nothing will work out and it just dies.
Or maybe we get a Dragonflight situation where it DOES improve...but people finally moved on to a new MMO....and then Im excited to see the cycle repeat itself on a new game. XD
they will probably just keep cutting stuff, since people even buy the iceheart outfit

Apparently it did.
It used to be this big edgy hardcore game. And now according to people its becoming Secondlife and Dawntrail is a Vacation Arc.
Plus we had 1.0 and 2.0, but maybe its been long enough that doesnt fit into the 10 year cycle anymore
"the second life" part is simply people that started those annoying clubs during the covid pandemic, when they werent allowed to leave their rl houses. But thats nothing that SE planned or anything.

True, but people are saying the game is appealing more to this casual crowd to the point its apparently not a Videogame anymore.
And just in case you didnt know "secondlife" is a virtual world / game thats about living literally a "second life" you can make and build stuff, rp virtually anything

Actually, the interview where he compares FF14 to games like Fortnite and Overwatch is not a recent one, it dates back to May 2019.The "former MMO player" Yoshi P wishes to appeal to young players.
At first you'd think they're trying to entice traditional FF players, but Duty Support is hardly the main problem of the game.
Second Life crowd? Let's be honest, that's accidental, JP doesn't have a huge ERP scene to sustain the game there.
With recent interviews it's now clear who exactly they're trying to cater to - and ruin the game in the process. Young gamers. A nebulous, ill-defined player segment that they don't themselves understand. They're bringing up examples like Fortnite. Square Enix thinks FF14, along with the rest of their product line, should evolve to chase these young players. Which is why we have things like FF7: Battle Royale edition.
Give up now, CBU3. No 14 year old is going to play a tab targeting MMO with a 2.5s GCD that makes you read hundreds of hours of dialogue.
You know what they said about turn based RPGs? The market is dead, no one is going to play it anymore. Sure, young people might not play turn based RPGs, but surprise, if you make a good RPG, people flock to it. You get critically praised.
Maybe FF14 should start trying to be the best MMO it can be instead of chasing clouds.
However, since then, Yoshi-P has slowly started implementing this vision of the "future of MMORPGs in FF14" that he mentioned in the interview.
Honestly, if they continue down this path, yes, they might shoot themselves in the foot.
I thought it was from last year, but my god if it's actually from 2019 then there truly is no hope for this game. And it's pretty obvious that the vision is being implemented when you think about all the dumbing down in ShB.Actually, the interview where he compares FF14 to games like Fortnite and Overwatch is not a recent one, it dates back to May 2019.

All I know is I'm in my early 20s and I can't stand current day FFXIV gameplay with how boring each job has become and how cringe the current story is. You don't attract players like me with this current direction.

i get your point, i dont agree with it, but i get it..
but i have to call you on your hyperbole of a argument. you can't say: "I'm X, and the game cant attract X" while also being X and a paid subscriber.
y'all want change? but not as bad as you want to keep a virtual house. you want a revolution but are not willing to sacrifice for it. so you will will only ever get what you already have.

Thank you for your comment I already lost my house and as far as I'm concerned I already give SE money each month when I buy Crysta for FFXI so diverting some of that to FFXIV doesn't even matter because the money seems to be going to the same place anyway. I may as well log in and continue offering my thoughts on matters concerning this game - which as has been pointed out by others gets funding from other sources beyond the sub fee.i get your point, i dont agree with it, but i get it..

I maintain that if I saw taco cat instead of CGI Gaius as my first impression of the game I would not have picked it up. Let alone how terrible gameplay has gotten on the jobs I would have enjoyed like SMN. A whole decade of mistakes in that job's design culminating in what we should have gotten in ARR only appearing in Endwalker.
