i get your point, i dont agree with it, but i get it..
but i have to call you on your hyperbole of a argument. you can't say: "I'm X, and the game cant attract X" while also being X and a paid subscriber.

y'all want change? but not as bad as you want to keep a virtual house. you want a revolution but are not willing to sacrifice for it. so you will will only ever get what you already have.

Thank you for your comment I already lost my house and as far as I'm concerned I already give SE money each month when I buy Crysta for FFXI so diverting some of that to FFXIV doesn't even matter because the money seems to be going to the same place anyway. I may as well log in and continue offering my thoughts on matters concerning this game - which as has been pointed out by others gets funding from other sources beyond the sub fee.

I maintain that if I saw taco cat instead of CGI Gaius as my first impression of the game I would not have picked it up. Let alone how terrible gameplay has gotten on the jobs I would have enjoyed like SMN. A whole decade of mistakes in that job's design culminating in what we should have gotten in ARR only appearing in Endwalker.

Even if young players do play this game, this game is so 18+ ERP heavy oriented that, that teen isn't going to find a place to fit in around here very easily without a whole lot of lying.

Um, what are you talking about? It's very easy to find people to talk to without ERP in XIV.

The percentage of the playerbase focused solely on ERP is so overblown. Haven't run into ERP once in 9 years myself.

I can see them getting the attention of younger people but I do not see them KEEPING the attention of younger people.

I'm really curious where they get their data from. They should offer up poles and see what info they get. People who play this game are those that grew up with Final Fantasy. I don't see many of the younger crowd ever talking about Final Fantasy and I work at a job that has that age group. Most don't even know what Final Fantasy even is.

"the second life" part is simply people that started those annoying clubs during the covid pandemic, when they werent allowed to leave their rl houses. But thats nothing that SE planned or anything.

And just in case you didnt know "secondlife" is a virtual world / game thats about living literally a "second life" you can make and build stuff, rp virtually anything

MMO systems in general don't appeal to today's younger gamers. I think WoW appealed to very young kids for it's time. My nephew was into it when he was like 10 or something. I'm a bit out of touch so I'm not sure what young kids are into now. I'm told League of Legends and MoBa games are Boomer now lol.

All I know is I'm in my early 20s and I can't stand current day FFXIV gameplay with how boring each job has become and how cringe the current story is. You don't attract players like me with this current direction.

First, let's rephrase "young people" to be around 18. Gamers with a small bit of cash, who value their money, but also want a fun game to play. They're willing to pay for battle passes, but will complain if they lack value.

Look at Twitch, YouTube, or anywhere on social media. Take a look at what young people play. What do they all have in common? They're video games.

Not a 300-hour cutscene followed by a hallway with cookie-cutter enemies. Not an ERP sim with sex toy integration (yes, it's real). They want a video game that's fun to play with friends, not to AFK with, or conversely, to have cybersex with.

Final Fantasy XIV has failed recently at being a game. We used to have gameplay, such as in the world-renowned Shadowbringers expansion. But now we hate that. We like how things are now. Which means we like playing other games while virtue-signaling online, because after all, FFXIV is the "correct" MMO (remember Blizzard? #MeToo).
