    This is excluding mail systems. And this is solely via the roadmap documents. Aside from roadmap items, there are additions that have been confirmed via dev posts such as seek flags and world NMs.

    Wait! No way - ALL OF THESE ARE COMMON STAPLES IN ALL MMOS?! The only difference is that it is branded in FF fashion. Why people can't see this is beyond me.
    Still not sure what about the zones is from XI. As from everything else you mentioned it is features from every mmo out there. What you think XI invented the wheel? Ever heard of everquest?

    I agree with this, it sounds like a perfect mix of XI and WoW (clone) to me, sure its bound to upset some purists but time to move on.

    The main aim of the similarity between FF11 and FF14 was to add an air of familiarity to the game. They did it to make it easier for players of XI to transition to XIV (is what I remember them saying years ago, but I can no longer find the exact announcement that was made by the developer).

    Legend tells of a legendary warrior whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend. He was so deadly, in fact, that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness!

    FFXI has 200,000 subscriptions (closer to 190,000) still.

    FFXIV has <20,000.

    FFXI is not dead, my good sir.

    This was the exact reasoning, they wanted those who played FFXI to have the ability to recreate their XI avatar or something new, this is why:

    Quick comparison from 2010. (too lazy to find the full one)

    This isn't because the companies are the same, but if you bring logic into this, mr onidemon here would have to explain why orcs in one game by one company looks like orcs in another game by another company...but I thought the races were the same because it was a game by the same company? Poo.

    @FFXI is dead.

    As much as I'd want XI to end (so they can put absolute full focus on XIV and bring over good content concepts) it's not anywhere near as dead. If FFXI is dead what is FFXIV?

    It used to be 500k, its getting there slowly and tbh most developers/publishing companies would not be happy with 200k.

    But to be fair the game is 10 years old so its to be expected, it can't survive for ever.

    If FFXI is dead what is FFXIV?
    It's going through a reincarnation. (come back soon !)
