Wow did abosulting nothing for casual players lol they legit only focused on myth Plus and raids/pvp (now pvp was fun at one point) but its actually in reverse wow is dieing because the lack of things hold casual players in the game. Plus it cant hold a new player longer than 2 months before they lose care lolGuess what, the majority of your playerbase is midcore. Not casual players who have a panic attack when they need to use more than three buttons on their hotbars. Not hardcore players who clear the tier in 16 hours.
Square Enix is on the same trajectory as Blizzard. The sad thing is that the playerbase refuses to see this because of all the blind hype, and this same thing happened in WoW - people couldn't fathom the thought that WoW could be getting worse.
I believe most midcore players will be happy with healers that can do more than two button rotations, for example. People do have brain cells in this game.
FF14 is clearly not catering to the world prog players. So the problem really is the incessant catering of casual players. This will eventually lead to FF14's decline, when you adjust content schedule and delivery to cater to the lowest common denominator, making the traditional midcore crowd dissatisfied and leave. Only reason this is obfuscated is because of all the influx. This game right now is full of new players that have no understanding of the game and have barely participated in the game for more than a tier. And even then I know plenty of WoW players who have quit after literally just one tier because the drought is even worse than in WoW.
People mock WoW's peaks and falls between expansions, but FF14's drops are bigger, sometimes by 50%.
when playing wow and with the time gating, you have to be on every single day for a minuim of 9 hours realistically to progress with a character lol it defly does jack for casual or alts lol
There is still an issue with becoming too casual, where it starts to feel insulting. Which is where XIV is bordering on currently.
I also had more fun leveling multiple characters in EverQuest this year than I had playing FFXIV. Crazy how much fun there is to be had when overworld creatures can actually pose a threat.
I don't get that impression.
I think it's a good term to describe casual players who aren't afraid of being challenged from time to time as opposed to the portion of casual players who seem to expect everything to be exceedingly easy all of the time.
Furthermore, I've seen people requesting more content with a bit of teeth to it for some time now, well before Zepla spoke on the subject. Having a prominent content creator speak on the matter simply increases the chance of the development team actually responding, though.
Ah, Beast Mastery. Taming my first Devilsaur back in the day, when they were still basically elite bosses roaming at will that would gladly chew you up and spit you out and then dance on the puddle. Learning the exact duration of Scare Beast (is that what the skill was called? It's been a long time), and where to lay a Frost Trap, so when the fear wore off it wouldn't just run over and kick my tusks down my throat.
I died a lot in the process, but I got my white and purple Devilsaur in the end. I named him Abominus (all of my hunter pets were named after Transformers) and he served me well for a long time.
Many have been talking about it for years. Not everyone has been unaware of that noticeable gap in difficulty between Normal and Savage that EX by itself (assuming it hasn't fallen off the sides of the midcore scale) isn't enough to fill.
It makes me wonder about the skill level of the developers who do the encounter designs. Are there no midcore level designers among them or are they all vying for the right to design the next Ultimate?
Nobody actually knows what Midcore really even means. Everyone has a different definition of Midcore. Same applies to Semi-hardcore as well. These are buzzwords with no true meaning.
99.99% chance probably a Titanman alt
This a necro but skiros kinda right it’s dangerous to cater content for the extremes too much and not enough for the middle
