The ONLY reason I can think of is that would it be a nightmare coding-wise because their system is spaghetti code, and because they're marked as "x" job in the code means that's also how it's linked in the glamor dresser.

Which means things like all the level 1 glamor things like the pvp armor should STILL be changed to just be all jobs since they give no stats.
    A few points:

    1) Things get mixed up very often in an arbitrary way. Sometimes Healing shares a model with... Striking of all things? The only 2 armor types that keep consistent with their silhouettes are Fending and Casting.

    2) Even with their own assigned silhouettes, we have a lot of situations (and not just mere outliers) where it's just completely ignored in favor of a certain fashion. Zadnor tanking set looks like light armor, Radiant caster set is literally mail in the name and appearance, just to name two of many examples. It's funny that sometimes they just slap a shoulderpad and call it fending.

    3) We have a bunch ofAll Classes glamours that can replicate a certain armor silhouette regardless of the job you're at, which by itself already defeat the whole theorethical purpose of the restrictions, and I'm not even talking about the 'joke' or the 'casual-modern' sets - I mean things like the Seigneur or the PVP plate armor.

I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but there's no good reason to, as the game is today, justify the restrictions based on an armor silhouette association.

And there's the, often recurring, argument of "Unrestricted glamour will allow people to look ridiculous and I don't want to see that." - There's absolutely zero ways of looking more 'ridiculous' with the restrictions lifted than what people ALREADY can, simply because all of those glamours are by default All Classes: wedding dresses in combat, frog suit, swimwear, the cafeteria guy, maids...

SE pleeeeease, just axe the whole role restriction thing with glamour. So many individual gear pieces could fit well with other jobs and its such an "innocent sin" that its to be this way.

No need to give us "eternal punishment" when NPCs wear mismatched role pieces for their designs
You can really tell how forgotten Persona 2 is when nobody caught the references.

    That or nobody cares lol

I'm assuming they would've mentioned this alongside "multiple dye channels" and "dedicated glasses equip slot" at FanFest if it was in the cards... That, or they're saving it for a future one since I imagine it would be quite an exciting upcoming feature, despite the naysayers.

Yeah... I feel that if there's a remote chance of announcing this, it would be by EU Fanfest, because the first and second ones are more 'feature' focused, whereas the JP one seems to lean towards stuff like jobs.

At least they know how players care for this kind of thing, given the reception of the dye feature.

Unlocking glam restrictions would be the single biggest incentive for me to go back and re-run old content. I'd even do it synced. I'd farm everything. e v e r y t h i n g

There hasn't been any glam that I personally like all that much since 6.0 main patch. A whole expansion. I'm withering. shrivelling. evaporating

Theres nothing worse to having a brilliant fashion glam job idea but then realize the pieces you want for it are locked behind other classes.

I'd hope by the time they unlock everything.
[and either make new racial gear while at it, or make hempen more race unique/not]
    They'd all fix/build up a new glamour storage/log system.
As much as I'd love to have this.
it's gonna be a real Final Sting for many to have all these options and not being able to store it.
(which would turn me down real quick.)
<if the Storage/Log came first, I'd collect it all, and eagerly wait ready for the unlock>

    Here's To More Options

As it can be set up in ways it benefits all that care.

With the recent discussion surrounding the lack of new and worthwhile/substantial content in Endwalker's patches from both the community on Twitter, YouTube and Twitch as well as streamers such as Zepla and Xeno, I've been thinking about how lifting glamour restrictions could be used as a method (one of hopefully many) for player retention for almost every type of XIV player.

For example, if Square were to lift glamour restrictions and make it a requirement to have the job leveled to the specific item's level in order to be able to glamour it on all jobs, that would incentivise many players to not only go around farming older glamour pieces across all expansions but also level up jobs that they probably never had the intention of touching otherwise. This way they would not only expand the glamour/fashion scene significantly but it would increase player retention quite a lot across the board simply due to the sheer amount of armor pieces in the game that can be used as glam. Add to that having to level the jobs you want glamour from and you've successfully created a very good reason for people to run older content all year long. They'd also be giving players a reason to try out/level jobs they never had any interest in previously.

Yoshi-P has said that by the time the graphics update is done, all/most armor pieces will have been reworked/upscaled and will look significantly better and more "current day" FFXIV. This means that everything as far back as ARR will be worth collecting for glamour purposes and could be combined with the newest items without looking off due to the jarring drop off in quality that is currently present in the game on older gear. We should also not forget that they've announced that we're getting dual-dye channels (two dyes per gear piece) on all gear across the board which will be a game changer for a lot of the gear present in the game.

I would say that this is a permanent way of increasing player retention and engagement with XIV, for the simple reason that as the game expands and more gear and jobs are added, there will constantly be more items to collect for glamour. It is a system they can adjust once and let it do its thing indefinitely.
