Just an update if this hasn't been posted already. Zepla posted an update video for the reactions to her original video.

Interestingly enough she states she loves the game so much she is the type of player to find things to do even if she's not super hyped.

So not a hate video.

She also implied that actually, the people praising the game are the 1%. Not to say complainers are the 99%, the complainers are probably the 1% too. The 99% just silently stick around or get bored and leave without saying anything, apathy is the most dangerous issue, if everyone doesn't care to even complain anymore, that's when you know the game is really, really dead. Actually if you look at a lot of horrible, dead MMOs, their community is full of praise, just because of selection, the people still sticking around in dead MMOs are obviously very invested. If you look at New World, most of it is actually an echo chamber of praise now, but that's only because 95% already left after a few months of intense criticism, but after those few months they really just left and no one really complains anymore. Some people want FF14 to become like that too, I think they hate the complainers so much they would rather this game die and lose 95% of the players than tolerate criticism ^^

Yes I think in the grand scheme, most players probably aren't invested that much either way - but probably still will leave if they are bored.

this game is what upwards of 1, 1.5 million subs and we got the same 20 people on the forums and one guy with 60 alts? Feedback is scarce either direction. Most people are silent enjoyers or silent leavers.

That exactly why a video coming from someone like Zepla talking about the problem is "important" (and especially its reception). It proves that it's not only "a few people on the forum", as some like to frame it, but something that's more globally felt in the community, and that is somehow made silent in other platforms (platforms like twitter and reddit are known to shot down discording opinions)

The main reddit has been known to straight up ban people over it.

A lot of good feedback is given here that I feel would be scourged from the main reddit.

The more I think about it, the more I hope the devs don't take their feedback only from that reddit. They'd get the impression we only care about posing our catgirls for screenshots and fan art lol.

There's a reason fantasias and emotes are best sellers. Reddit is simply a reflection of a greater community lol

It really does not help any that the content creators primarily post over there as well and never here. These forums could really benefit more from influencers posting here. Sadly the most we ever get is creators making react videos to the forum topics and the occasional twitter person that copies and pastes a snip of a post to their wall and get way more interaction than here.
