Just an update if this hasn't been posted already. Zepla posted an update video for the reactions to her original video.

Interestingly enough she states she loves the game so much she is the type of player to find things to do even if she's not super hyped.

    So not a hate video.
I'm not watching 60 minutes of this, but in the first 10 minutes she seems to be saying that really only the top raiders and then content creators/streamer should be catered to for content. I strongly disagree with her and the fact that FFXIV doesn't entirely just cater to the top raiders and streamers was part of why I initially picked it up when I'm not generally an MMO fan. It shouldn't feel like a job to the average player, and providing enough content to continually feed the desires of the top players and streamers who play this game 12 hours a day every day would turn it into exactly that, it would be a job that you would need to grind like crazy to keep up.

I didn't get that impression. She had said that not everyone wants to raid, but that even raiders want other things to do too.

Edit: Rewatching the first 10 minutes. She did say how content creators help with marketing, which is true. But she also was responding to a comment, and stated she left out the content creator discussion on purpose from her original video. She didn't say that the game has to only cater to content creators though.

We were watching 2 completely different videos then. She was simply saying that SE shouldn't forget about their more dedicated base. Not that they should be the only ones SE caters to.

She also said later in the video that there are more dedicated players who dont want to raid, and to not forget about them.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

    Uh, no...

She wasn't saying that the point that she was making is that Streamers and Content Creators can and do bring a significant number of players into the game, and for free no less... - and that if you do have a content deficit for the most recent expansion then it can dis-incentivise those content creators to play and thus market your game. - It's an important aspect whether you like it or not.

Now, overall, I think the entire game if we were including all expansions, then it does have bountiful content, but in reality, people will stream -- and will watch people stream -- if they are doing something new, novel or different. People will watch streamers and content creators when there's new content released, and there just hasn't been enough of that, and frankly, grinding tomes in hunt trains is not as watch-able as something such as doing Bozja duels, raids, etc., - There's a balance to be struck with it. - Nobody is interested in seeing what content a game had several years ago, the people watching and potentially buying are looking out to what people are doing once they've hit that cap.

It's not necessarily catering to those content creators or players, it is just giving a reason for those content creators to... Create content and stream. -- Do I enjoy fishing and achievement hunting? Of course, but it's not something that is going to attract people on the same volume as other pieces of content -- It doesn't mean these areas of content suck, just that they're difficult -- nigh on impossible to make engaging.

The only reason it would feel like a job to anyone is if they self-inflict this mindset on themselves. For as dramatic as Heavensward was in every single avenue -- Not even this expansion felt or imposed that. It just asked that you interact and engage with the content to a mild level.

The only thing I would potentially pick apart is the catering to hyper-casuals vs other crowds of players... To put it respectfully, I do think it's nonsense. I don't really think anyone is being catered to, at all. Bar maybe raiders, they've had quite a lot to eat.
