Zepla: Endwalker is the Worst FFXIV Expansion I have played

I think you’ll struggle to find people who genuinely call you a bootlicker for saying “I can acknowledge some problems but think they are overblown and still like the game for XYZ reason”. The big problem seems to be that if you are happy with the game and someone else wants more content because they don’t feel there is enough then it’s literally a win win situation for people who already enjoy the game as as it is, instead said comments are usually hit with “go play other games” as if they actually fixed the issue

The other big one is that quite often the “I love this game I have so much to do” vs the “this game needs more content per patch” is split new vs old players, it gets sorta frustrating being told “there is no problem there is so much content” by a person who started playing last year when you’ve been here for 13 years

I genuinely love this game and I want to keep playing it but I’m not gonna hesitate to point out its deeply flawed at the moment but I’m also gonna not attempt to disparage someone for enjoying the game right now if they have valid reasons, “lol take breaks games fine” is not a valid reason in my mind

I absolutely agree with everything you said in this paragraph. I'm entirely on board with it. The "Go play something else" comments really need to stop. At its root, it's fundamentally a "Go touch grass" statement. It's disrespectful and doesn't address anything whatsoever. I would love to see induvials find ways to be persuasive with why they love the game for what it is right now without being condescending about it.

Though in this case who cares if the original poster is a memer, the content of the video is what matters and it’s sparked discussion on the forums, I honestly can’t even remember who posted the original post or what person they accuse said person of being an alt of (probably titanmen) because at this point I just engage with the discussion in the last 2-3 pages

You need to watch at least the first 5 minutes of the video to understand how she feels about the expansion. Rather than sum her feelings up from my perspective, I'd like to encourage those who haven't watched it to watch at least the first 10 minutes.

Some people dislike Zepla's content and are more than happy to jump to the wrong conclusion as a result. Others are happy to jump to the wrong conclusion because it supports their personal beliefs about the state of the game.

It's fine if people are sticking to their own beliefs about the expansion in the discussion but it's a problem if they're trying to say "see, Zepla also hates Endwalker" because that's the way the resident troll set up the presentation. That's not what she said at all.

To be fair, no one owes you any explanation of why they enjoy the game any more than you owe them an explanation of why you're dissatisfied. Neither side needs to convince the other to change their mind. Our opinions are subjective and personal.

But everyone should be allowed to express their opinions freely as long as they stay within the forum rules.

Personally, I'm not here trying to convince people to like the game. I know that not every game is right for every player. It's something every player has to decide for themselves.

What I'm trying to do is encourage players to become smart consumers. If more players would stick to paying for games only when they genuinely enjoy and believe in the current state of the game, developers and publishers would be less likely to rush out half finished products. They would be more responsive in listening to feedback because to get your money they would have to meet your standards.

Maybe if game studios and publishers were only getting paid when players actually like what they're making, game quality would increase. If you're going to continue to pay for something you feel is poor in quality, then it shouldn't be surprising that is what continues to be delivered.

On the other hand, she didn't title the video "I hate Endwalker." I feel the nuance is reflected well enough in the title, which is a summary of her thoughts regarding this expansion in comparison to other expansions that she has played. I'm not sure how anal we need to be about the title anyway, when the point is that the Endwalker expansion has been something of a letdown in comparison to prior expansions for various reasons.
