Does it need a dungeon queue for you to be free to take a break from it and do something else? I think this is the first time I've heard of such a thing. No, I routinely take breaks from the game regardless of how much I enjoy it and - imagine this - do other things in that time. In what world is that a mutually exclusive possibility?

I'm just saying I don't go to other forums to tell them their game sucks because people play other games besides theirs. If I really like a game, I play it. If people ASK ME about games I'm playing or if I know any good ones, I make recommendations. But I don't feel the need to evangelize to try to get more converts or tell someone my pseudo-religion game is better than theirs to try and convert them. In fact, I rarely attack other games at all, and only do so once an attack has been initiated where people are saying a game I love sucks and comparing it to X game being better while ignoring X game's weaknesses and the fact that the game I love doesn't "suck" to begin with.

The poster who started this thread starts a lot, and they're always the same kinds of thing, trying to rile people up. They ignore facts, nuance, actual statistics, and so on to try and...I don't even know. I don't know if their goal is to get people to quit FFXIV, if it's a "misery loves company" and they want other people to dislike it, if they want some actual change to it, or if they just want to agitate people and get them to fight for the OP's amusement. At this point, I'm nott even sure their motivations, other than that said motivations are not good faith.

    EDIT:

Oh, and to address the "at work/etc" argument where you can browse forums but not play games:

Then I'd be on the game I like's forum engaging with theorycrafting and lore discussions. Like if I was totally into BG3 right now, I'd be on THEIR forums talking about classes I like and theorizing on various builds, looking up where weapon drops are so I can try to get gear and stuff when I get home, or just discussing the lore and world's story.

True, not everyone's the same as me in terms of the specific topics they'd be discussing, but the point stands that if you're really having fun with and enjoying a game, you'd be inclined to be on their forums discussing the thing you really enjoy, not some other game's forums telling those people how their game sucks and how yours is so popular.
Yes, you're right, not everyone is the same as you in this respect, and as for...

if you're really having fun with and enjoying a game, you'd be inclined to be on their forums discussing the thing you really enjoy
Hm nah, I certainly don't approach games that way. For most games I play I rarely, if ever, visit much in the way of their fora or social media. The exception tends to be if I don't understand a guide or have a build question or feel the game is lacking in some respect and want to offer my feedback on that. Lore discussions? More rarely. MMOs can be a bit of a different beast there because they're by their nature continuous projects and so naturally invite more in the way of feedback regarding their path of travel and lore speculation. Generally if I am going on a forum, though, it's in the (sometimes vain) hope my feedback will reach the ears of the development team. Otherwise there's more pleasant places to discuss the game should that take my fancy. My enjoyment of the game is totally independent of participation (or not) in a forum.

Only jerk hyper-cultist-sports fan type mentality people do that sort of thing. Well, and forum trolls trying to agitate people, of course.
And I'm sure the OP will be very interested to read your psychoanalysis of them.

    2) That you don't go to game discussion forums for games you like (unlikely, but possible),
    3) That you only do so to offer feedback or ask a question (you being in this thread bantering with me here proves that's a lie, as you're neither asking question nor offering feedback in your replies to me),
    4) And snark at the end despite it being accurate.

You do you, friend, but when you're in a thread like this telling someone they're wrong to not think BG3 is so great or FFXIV is bad, you're not offering feedback nor asking a question.

No, I realise full well what I said. Your initial claim was simply nonsensical and did not follow - liking a game does not mean you're going to spend all your time doing nothing but that. It's that simple. You then heaped on a bunch of other assumptions that hold no weight, which you're now claiming (as if you'd know) are "unlikely". On 3), I am stating that's why I'd generally bother going to a forum in the first place, yes, in response to claims you made as to what you'd be doing if you liked a game. I'm not sure why you think every post on the forum then has to conform to that thereafter. A lot of my "banter", here, I find tends to be with people who try to gatekeep what feedback can or can't be offered and, to be blunt, unless one is a mod, I'm not interested in their views on that.

The snark is more to do with the fact that I couldn't care less about whatever hang ups you have with the OP or others like them. Once more, just because the OP is arguably not in good faith, does not mean that people can't discuss what they think the game does bring to the table and what XIV could possibly learn from it, like Theodric said. We're already engaged in discussion in the thread at this point so sour grapes over the OP isn't going to go anywhere. You are ultimately mirroring the OP in your own logic on the matter, whether you realise it or not.

But you're right, as with other interactions with you, it is proving to be a low value add activity to me, so I think I shall pull the plug on it.

You do you, friend, but when you're in a thread like this telling someone they're wrong to not think BG3 is so great or FFXIV is bad, you're not offering feedback nor asking a question.
I don't believe I ever said that. But you do you, "friend".

    I'm sure.

I didn't say people only play one game. That was kind of the OP's assertion - that people only play FFXIV if they like it and that they're playing BG3 obviously means FFXIV sucks.

What I *DID* say personally is that if I really enjoy one game, I don't go to a different game's forum to advertise about it and tell everyone how much I like <othergame> better.

As for feedback: When people are saying offer critiques of the game, not insults to other players or just insults to the game, that isn't "gatekeeping" what type of feedback may be offered. Insults are not feedback.

    .

Now, if you'd like to discuss what BG3 does well that you'd like to see in FFXIV, that's a different conversation, and that might be a worthwhile one. But that isn't what this thread started as, nor what this conversation has been. It might be one worth engaging in instead, though.

    Or religion, yeah.

It's not like you believe in one god and aren't allowed to worship another. These are videogames. A person can (and most people will and do) dabble in more than one. I don't know why some people want to treat them like religions, or worse, sports teams, or worse political ideologies; where one is either with or against them and can only play/enjoy one at a time.
[btw, to avoid any possible confusion, I'm agreeing with you, not disagreeing. Quoted for truth, as it were.]

He already did as much earlier in the thread by quoting and agreeing with one of my previous posts saying what I'd like to see the development team take note of, so I think you're once again being rather disingenuous by implying otherwise.

But that doesn't change the fact if it was so earthshatteringly good, people wouldn't come here to post about it, they'd just be playing it. So it's clearly not that good to them that they would rather play it than post on these forms about it. If it was so much fun they couldn't put it down, they wouldn't have time to be here posting bait threads featuring it in a starring role.
That reads as a generalisation/statement of fact to me rather than a purely personal approach to the topic. And again, the third alternative to consider here is plain: it's irrelevant to whether you are enjoying the game or not.

I know you're agreeing with one part, but I think you missed the balance I'm stating.

The games not a job, you shouldn't have to feel obligated to play it every day, 24/7 but you should want to play the game. You should want to log in and do something that isn't afking.
