To be fair, BG3 really IS that good. They are just trolling.Oh, another bait thread?
Don't you guys ever get tired of this? BG3 can't be that great - if it was, you'd be PLAYING IT instead of on these forums posting about it.
Yes, being "honest", I play FF14 because it's a good game and I enjoy it.
I genuinely will never understand people that hate a game so much they incessantly tell everyone else how much they hate it and how they like other games better, on the forums of the game they hate and constantly say they are enjoying other game(s) so much better than, by...spending their time making these posts instead of playing those other games they supposedly like so much better.
If BG3 was as good as you say, you'd have been playing it instead of making this post.

Yep. It's a great game and something FFXIV could really learn from in terms of offering characters that don't just automatically agree with the player character at every turn and who even clash with each other. There's something for pretty much everyone since there's more of an effort to appeal to a broader range of personal tastes. Something a fair few of us have been requesting FFXIV to provide over the years, I'd note.
It's also pretty normal to look at what other options in the industry are doing because there's always things that businesses can learn from each other.

I've been enjoying it a lot. Although I'm taking a short break to play some other CRPGs in my backlog while they do the usual Larian thing and patch some stuff in that didn't make it on release and tidy up Act 3 a bit. But easily the most fun I've had in a CRPG in a while.Yep. Still hope they flesh out Minthara and that route more generally later on as I intend to go that path on my inevitable drow playthrough.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

Yep and yep.
But, many of the other posters are correct in their assertions that the dev team is releasing less engaging content while the significant patch cycles are getting longer. FFXIV appears to be in low maintenance mode. This is a shame because, as a casual player, I really like the MMO. The attitude S.E. is taking, that we could always play other games, strikes me as complacent and a little arrogant. It's shooting them in the foot.

I have never been less impressed by post launch content than I have with EW. So yeah, I agree.Yep and yep.

well to be fair...Post EW launch you did have your lead developer and some of his team working on another game. S.E. only weird decision to me is FFXIV has been their bread and butter bringing in the cash despite many...and i mean MANY failures of other titles yet Yoshi-P has stated he can't get a budget increase from S.E. to implement more stuff he would like in this game. They would rather invest that money into flops like Forspoken than the game actually making them money.

FF 16 is great, to be fair, or at least it is to me. But it came at a pretty significant cost as far as FF XIV is concerned. SE's priorities are all over the place nowadays.well to be fair...Post EW launch you did have your lead developer and some of his team working on another game. well hopefully they don't end up pulling a Ubisoft, where they chased too many trends then it puts them in the predicament of forcing the cancellations of most their upcoming games because none of the trends they tried to chase working. I do say 16 probably hurt what EW was suppose to be and Yoshi wanted for 14 but will have to wait and see where Dawntrail goes to know really.
Please take a moment and peruse the financial statements of SE before making ridiculous assumptions about where the 'bread and butter' of the company lies. The MMORPG portion of Digital Entertainment is about 18% of the 62.3 billion yen in net sales [FY2024 Q1]. The Amusement sector made more money in sales (yeah, merchandising and arcades, go figure) than all of the MMORPGs SE makes.
As for investing in other properties, it's what gaming companies do.
LOL you are talking PROJECTED NUMBERS because hate to tell you FY 2024 Q1 has not happened yet....LOL god and you tell me to read financial reports then quote a projection XDPlease take a moment and peruse the financial statements of SE before making ridiculous assumptions about where the 'bread and butter' of the company lies.
