I wholeheartedly agree. Couldn't have said it better myself.I feel like people need to be accepting of other's feelings whether positive or negative. you can't come around asking for people to post what they feel and then attack them and telling them you pity them. It destroys the purpose of sharing.
If this is the way you feel then maybe the thread should be titled "A letter forest for the devs about things I want to hear". I understand you want to see positive things of course but silencing, shaming and accusing others of wrong think isn't any better than posting negative feedback to begin with.
This is why people feel "well meaning" players are disingenuous on this game, because they will resort to insults and the same toxicity they accuse others of brandishing, and yet they somehow think that's okay because they are doing it to defend their point of view.
This, exactly. Why do you need to be everywhere? You speak of being accepting of other's feelings, so why do they have free reign to poison a thread like this? What about our feelings? The title of the thread isn't "Suggestions and feedback". Even if it were, you can't just make blanketed remarks like "Please make more effort" without facts to substantiate your claims, definitive proof that what you are saying holds merit and needs to be addressed, and it certainly isn't constructive to approach with a negative and offer no positive suggestions.
Frankly, because Square Enix designed the forums so people could post whatever they feel. Nothing about what they originally said invalidated your feelings. But you sure went out of the way to invalidate theirs. Do you see how selfish that is? They just said something you didn't like in an open forum and you went to destroy them. This, exactly. How is that a good person? And worse, how does this make the plight of your thread any better? Now it's just a thread about trying to be positive with someone who will attack you if they don't like what you said. Good stuff.
I think a term comes to mind here that these forums seem to love but actually applies here. Gaslighting.Frankly, because Square Enix designed the forums so people could post whatever they feel. One must be willfully ignorant to try to recast what is going on in this thread as Ath put it above.
The 3rd post could have been ignored. It could have been accepted as just, ok, its a letter tree of people posting their feelings to the developers. Whether it's a full on reminiscence about how someone started or how things where and how things have changed, or how people long for a time past or yearn for better days ahead (regardless of how long/short their letter is). Letters can be sweet, bitter or bittersweet. But it just had to be reacted to and then spiraled. So who really derailed it?
I wholeheartedly agree you are gaslighting people into thinking this quote:
invalidated everyone's feelings on here and that you and co. didn't go out of their way to make sure they felt bad for sharing their thoughts. But you think what you want.
The 1000th alt of a poster who said in no uncertain terms that he's just here to create drama. That's who is to blame, and in no uncertain terms it has worked yet again. The 3rd post could have been ignored. I'm tired of coddling people like this or shifting blame or trying to be understanding. I'm done.
*walks into the forums for the first time and isn't quite sure what all the fuss is about, but shrugs and walks over to a string and adds a note to the Letter Forest*
Dear Theatre Troupe,
I came across your party some time ago now, and oh! what a ride it has been. The twists and turns you've displayed to us. The laughter and tears. The fury. You've breathed life into so many tales, their sights, sounds, experiences. How I hunger for more with each act's end.
Although your works may not always be perfect, and not always for the widest audience, I pray you take heart in knowing how many lives you reach with your every production. May you ever walk with us in the light of the crystal.
Ever in your audience,
A grateful adventurer![]()

As a new kitten in this world fleeing from an old one that no longer wanted me, I found myself alone and confused. In all too short a time it was overwhelming and I retreated back to the old world I had come from.
Years later I returned and you held your hand out and drew me into a world of wonder that never fails to amaze me to this day. This world has become home.

Dear Developers
I first came to Eorzea in another world (this is my second service account), I was there for 2.0 but didn't progress too far. I returned after a long absence and my journey has been one of excitement. Exploring the stories, lands, jobs, classes. Outside of most of the EW Savages, the Ultimates, Criterion and, for some reason, Chocobo Racing, I have explored every facet of FFXIV. It was a genuinely, sincerely, great journey.
The past 12 months have, sadly, not been as good. I do not feel as engaged with the story. I miss the long absent FC members. I long for positive news for OCE. Selfishly, I love being a true Warrior WoL, but I recognize the problems. I cannot deny that healers face significant issues.
I have hope for 7.0. And I hope that that feeling continues.
