I think a term comes to mind here that these forums seem to love but actually applies here. Gaslighting.

One must be willfully ignorant to try to recast what is going on in this thread as Ath put it above.

The 3rd post could have been ignored. It could have been accepted as just, ok, its a letter tree of people posting their feelings to the developers. Whether it's a full on reminiscence about how someone started or how things where and how things have changed, or how people long for a time past or yearn for better days ahead (regardless of how long/short their letter is). Letters can be sweet, bitter or bittersweet. But it just had to be reacted to and then spiraled. So who really derailed it?
