We can all agree they 100% ignore forum feedback, right?

Drawing a paralell with real life, how do people get things done when they are being ignored by the ones calling the shots? Riots, strikes, etcetera. Of course you cant do that ingame that's some runescape cringe thing, so in my eyes the only plausible way of actually getting things changed is by hurting their pockets.

I mean I’m a legacy player, by default my whole existence is kinda “hey remember when you completely messed us around and have us a pile of trash and now you still give us a sub discount because of it”, of course modern 14 isn’t as bad as legacy but I like to see that the complaint we had against legacy is why we have the game today

Quiet quitting may hit their wallet but then when the game flounders and they need feedback who are they gonna turn to……mainsub, yeah don’t make me laugh

Honestly, the only reason I'm still consistently subbed is because a lot of my friends still play FFXIV, and I enjoy the raid content. I'd probably have taken extended breaks by now if not for those reasons.

Did you ever watch the 3 part NoClip documentary about FFXIV?

Hate to say it but it seems that it was the players who silently quit that impacted things the most. SE was placed in a position where they needed to save face and rescue the franchise's reputation after the game's obvious failure. They still came close to just letting it burn without rebuilding it.

Because you and other players were willing to keep giving SE money for the bad game so they had some revenue to work with, they were able to proceed with the attempt to rebuild it.

All the complaining did was confirm what needed to get fixed once the decision was made to try to save it.

Which is understandable. I felt that way about WoW for a while. I thought that adding my voice to all the others pointing out issues with the game would get things to change.

It didn't work while I was still subscribed except the one time all that feedback and criticism was backed up by a sea of subscription cancellations (the WoD flying fiasco). Blizzard went right back to not caring once they got enough players to change their minds about cancelling.

It took continued subscription losses over 3 more expansions (plus the success of Classic) to get Blizzard to start caring about all that feedback.

FFXIV isn't failing right now no matter how much some like to say it is. There are no massive financial and publicity disasters like 1.0 had. If it was in any danger, we'd be seeing them scrambling to get more player feedback on changes needed. They aren't.

That's what happens when people who don't like a product keep paying - they stop the trigger that forces a corporation into action from happening.

You don't need to be paying a subscription to give SE your feedback about the game. If some posters are correct and they're ignoring the EN forums, it's just a waste of your time.

We know they pay attention to some NA and EU content creators. We know they pay attention to Twitter X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. There are probably some other sources they watch as well. Get your voice heard where they're actually listening.

This is basically me.

I also think all of these "vote with your wallet/stop complaining/go away" posts are disingenuous concern trolling at best. These people don't give a rat's ass if you have a good time or not. They love sloppy game design and want a forum full of uncritical praise for the direction it's been headed.

They want us gone because we point out that modern FFXIV coddled their laziness. They don't like this.

You can call others lazy all you want. They won't care. Your opinion means nothing to them when they're trying to relax after a hard day at work, caring for their families, etc.

Look at what I posted above. I'm not saying "vote with your wallet" because I don't want you heard.

I want you to vote with your wallet so you do get heard. Corporations don't care until they get hit where it hurts - in their financials.

Being subbed is the best way to not get heard. They're getting your money and that's all they wanted from you in the first place.

Again, you don't have to be subbed for SE to see your feedback about the state of the game. You just need to be talking where they're actually looking.

Of course it aint failing finance wise, have you seen the mog shop ? The prices are increasing more and more and stuff is put on there more and more regularly, so of course their finances have no issues, they make up for the player losses with more mog shop items.

Also stop with this "yeah just unsub it will do something if we all unsub", nah it wont, because of people like you and many others, there is always a defense brigade ready to blame the players instead of the company, and in the worst case scenario, if they were in deficit finance wises due to massive amount of people unsubbing, they'd just bring out more mog shop stuff (which is basically what they've been doing lately, also increasing the price of mounts and glams), the second an item is out, people RUSH to buy it on the store, even multiple times for their alts since a lot is single character only, no matter what it is, if they like it even just a tiny little, they will buy it anyway, just because it's SE that is putting it out, hell if they brought up a $500 plushie of gra'ha eating the taco, people would literally fight "a la black friday" just to get one if the sales were physical.

The point is that FFXIV players have standards so damn low that nothing actually phases them, and it's really mindblowing to me, they could release a turd mount for $50, people would buy the hell out of it because it has sparkle on it.
