Imagine this scenario:
1. You love a game
2. You become a streamer / Youtuber for it
3. You are successfull
4. You quit your job
5. After years you can't really go back to your old job
6. You don't like the game anymore
7. Your audience is full of shills
8. You don't want to make those videos anymore
9. ... it's the only way to pay your rent

So you find another way to pay rent. Many content creators have been forced to because in order to do what they do, they need motivation or their mental health suffers to a point where they have no choice but to stop anyway.

As I said, some of them don't necessarily stop, but instead switch games or play a variety. This is a logical option for someone who can't go back to getting a normal job.

The fact of the matter is he is not at that point yet. Maybe he could be close to it, maybe he won't be ever be because he likes the final fantasy series and plays a variety already, but at a certain point depression slows down the content cycle and that does not seem an issue right now.

Dawntrail got a first trailer and a few infos and i'm not gleeming with enjoyment, i must be a negative nancy then.

Nor was I gleeming with enjoyment when I saw it. Actually the info we were given after made me more interested in it because we'll be visiting a mountain area.

I think that the parts we didn't see yet, such as the rest of the battle are what would have made it more interesting. But almost the entirety of it was dominated by everyone being on holiday and eating fruit, so it was hard to find anything exciting about it.

I can sort of dig being a pirate. The idea has grown on me. I was excited for the idea of going to the new world in the past and seeing more of what the blue mage quests talk about, but after seeing the trailer, the truth is I just need a good reason why we're going in order to be excited. "Having a contest" doesn't quite cut it.

That's why we need to find out what other threats or stories are going on in this expansion before we make this judgement.

But like many here, right now he doesn't feel like there is content he wants to do and so he's been playing all those other games.

At least he's doing something positive for himself instead of haunting the forums with endless negativity (not pointing at you, they know who they are).

It's a real shame some of the posters around here don't follow his example and play other games when they don't have anything they want to do in this one.

Yup. I may get excited with new info. What resisting the copium for 7.0 is for me, is to realize that Dawntrail will be Endwalker 2, or as some (many?) feel: Shadowbringers 3. EW was very successfull, so trying to repeat that is just logical.

Fair enough. Maybe taking a break would be better for him. I'm unsure if i should go on a break myself. There is stuff i still want to do. All of which boil down to boring grinds. I don't know if i want to actually do those things.

No, id say FF14 is the worst out of the popular MMOs if you are in it for the... you know... MMO part. FF14 is a single player game you pay monthly fee with a bit of coop on the side.

Crafted gear allows those who choose not to make a living out of raiding to catch up in a patch. It also allows players who don't raid to enjoy the glamours ... and to come up to speed if they just got the level 89-90 job gear and want to participate in something other than a long, slow slog to get through content.

Same goes for the hunt catchup gear ...

Some players enjoy wearing the latest styles and could care less about raiding.

I find most of my FC comrades who do raid don't even think about the crafted/hunt gear. They've already got their gear from, well, raiding.

Actually, yes, it does serve *two* intended purposes - intro gear for raiding and catch-up gear for later. But at least you're becoming more willing to admit you're just being mean-spirited to others. Maybe next time you won't cry foul when someone points that out?
